I stopped in yesterday with a group of co-workers on our lunch hour and it was all of ours first time their. The restaurant theme is cute, music selection is horrible. I would prefer light rock or top 40 not infused with dance club music. The music was a little off putting. The young lady that waited on us was very polite and friendly. She was very helpful. The young man that also helped us was also polite and nice but didn't seem too interested in being at work. The food was good. I had a pizza and the sauce was decent but could use some more flavor. It's a little blander than I prefer and I tried the spicy marinara my friend had gotten a sample of and it wasn't anything to write home about either. They should call it mild rustic instead of spicy rustic. The name is misleading also. I was hoping for some pasta since it is called Italian Kitchen but they only had pizza, calzone or salad to choose from. The dough was also bland and too thin. They only offer thin crust and I like something a little thicker. I gave 5 star because the customer service was exceptional comparibly with most other quick service places. Based completely on the food I would give that 3 stars. It needs some work. A more flavorful sauce would help things a lot but for 7 bucks you get what you pay for.
What a treasure in Oaklawn Zini's Pizzeria is for us. I moved to Oaklawn in October, 2012 and had Zini's Pizza for the first time shortly after. I am in my 60's and I have not found excelent tasting pizza like Zini's since I was a kid and a family from Italy opened a Pizza Shop in a cornor store in our neighborhood in Philadelphia. The taste and texture of Zini's pizza is just like the dough that was so wonderful from that first experience of pizza from a true Itilian family. And, the sauce tastes exactly like the sauce my Mom used to make from scratch and would simmer on the stove from about 8AM till around 6PM when we would have dinner. Zini's sauce is so rich and thick and the spices are perfectly balanced. Zini's pizza is like a party in your mouth. I have not tried any other of Zini's dishes, as I can not bring myself to order something other then Zini's pizza, because I would feel as though I was missing something if I did not have the pizza. I am sure all of the dishes that use Zini's red sauce are out of this world because of their wonderful tasting sauce. I have been telling everyong about Zini's. When I find something so good, I can not help but share the good news with my friends and people I meet in Dallas.
We were in the Dallas area to celebrate our son's arrival home from university and our nephew's graduation from SMU. My husband and I have dined at Maggianos in Las Vegas many times with each time being better than the last. Maggianos at North Park offered exactly the right balance of a special celebratory dinner with a relaxing, "dress casual" experience we had in mind. The restaurant decor is comfortable, the host welcoming, and our waiter made us feel we were the only diners in the restaurant. Portions are generous! The boys ordered Eggplant Parmesan(outstanding), my husband ordered his favorite appetizer, Onion Strings(fabulous)and I ordered the Beef Medallions with Balsamic Cream Sauce(excellent). The restaurant location is easy to find, the parking is ample, and the noise level in the dining room is no distraction. A chain restaurant with a notable, enjoyable and affordable experience each time is the take away.
