I have watched our CC Animal over the years and I have to give them props for the hard work they do. They are faced with seeing cruelty and death on a daily basis. Our animal shelter can be only as good as its community. Before you complain about something, pick up the phone donate, then take care of your own pets by making sure they are spade, neutered, fed, water, sheltered and loved. I went to animal control when my dog of 13 years passed away looking to adopt a dog. There were sooo few animals for adoption and they did not seem to be doing much to socialize them in any way. I could hear many dogs barking and they assured me they were being quarantined and were NOT adoptable.
I agree with all the reviews I have read. My heart breaks for that poor yellow lab and this is far too common. The dogs abondoned by the neighbor is just disgusting and is absolutely negle...view morect and a misdemeanor.
I am also very shocked at the amount of animals dead all over this city. Dead cats on the JFK bridge two days in a row. How did a cat get up onto a bridge? Really? And dead dogs, puppies, kittens, etc on SPID. Not only is this so absolutely horrible and so sad to see, but animal control leaves the animals to rot or get run over so many times they blend in with the grass on the side. It is just incomprehendible. Just pick them up. It is your job right???? I have lived in many cities in texas, some large and some very small. Corpus treats animals as disposable waste. Any thoughts on why Corpus in particular is this bad??????view less
The people and actions of the Corpus Christi Animal Care Services were at best mediocre. Although the volunteers were kind and thoughtful the employees were cold. They recited the Corpus Christi rules of adoption which I found to be very contradicting to what their webpage on the Corpus Christi website clearly states. It was almost if they found it entertaining in upsetting us because we could not adopt the dog we wanted to. They are keeping all of these animals and only letting a few ...view morego to the adoption list. In addition to throwing the rule book in our faces they gave us very limited options on what to do. What is on their website is not what they enforce. I find this place very disturbing that they would rather euthanize a perfectly find dog than let it go to a good family. I am very disappointed with how they handle themselves.view less
This also, is not a review, but a question. I would like to know why there is not an ASPCA in Corpus Christi. I have two dogs across the street that have been abandoned by a renter and they are starving. I have fed them what I can, but I cannot feed them forever. I have 3 adopted cats and a dog with allergies that I already take care of. I notified the pound, but they have ignored my request. It seems that there are a lot of animal shelters that do not go out and rescue animals a...view morend they are of little help. They obviously take in animals, but I would like to know how they come by them when they won't take in any animals and they don't go out to rescue any either. It is difficult for me to make donations to organizations that are always turning down any rescue efforts. Sigh.............view less
I hope someone responded to you and assessed that neighbor's bog. I don't know the rules, but I think what you described constitute for neglect, or even animal abuse due to the fact that the dog is confined to very small area. I had to report my neighbor right away when I witnessed him actually hitting his dog with a metal stick. I can't stand people like that. If you cannot take care of an animal, do the right thing, find him someone who can or take it to animal shelter.
This is not a review, it is a question. what is considered animal neglect or abuse in this area? For over a year, I have seen a yellow lab tethered 24/7. This beautiful, sweet dog belongs to a neighbor of mine. Their back fence blew down over a year ago and thus began what I feel is a miserable life for this dog. Before the fence blew down he ran free in the yard. Now he just lays around and his shelter is a tiny doghouse he squeezes into when its freezing or insanely hot. He ge...view morets fed and watered by a young boy, but noone plays with him, walks him, or acknowledges his existance.
I discovered him when I walked my dogs. At one point he was not being fed and his ears where bleeding from the flies biting him. I talked to his owners and she assured me his ears were being treated with Hydogen Peroxide. I also mentioned that it was a shame he had to he tethered all the time with no attention. At any rate its a long story, but I did call you all (Care Services) twice to have you at least look at the dog. Even tho I asked, noone at your office would tell me if you all went out to inspect him. I also called the police on one occasion because the dog was crying and howling and it was below 32 degrees out and I imagine he was cold. The police said they could not find the a dog that was crying!!
I know that right now people are throwing away their pets for different economical reasons. However, I love all animals and I just hate to see something beautiful like this lab just spend the rest of his life wishing someone would love him and protect him. Please is there anything you can do? At least inspect the dog and warn the owners if you think he is not getting enough care. You have my email address, so please email me for details. Thank you.view less
We just adopted a dog from the CC Animal Care Center on Holly Rd and the place is wonderful. The staff are very helpful and professional. One very nice young lady even helped us find the dog with the perfect personality for our family. We love our new addition, Ty, and can't wait to spoil him with love and affection. Although his older brother, a toy poodle, is a little jealous....his new sister, a shih tzu, is very excited to have someone to play with :) thank you to all the staf...view moref at the Animal Care Center!view less
