Today was the first day of head start school for my 3 year old and she enjoyed it. I stayed with her until nap time and she did great. Head start is a program that is funded for low income parents. This particular school, El Tejanito is nice, the teachers could use different creative activities with the students, and the schools could and should probably be updated on how kids learn. Maybe the schools could start including the Pledge of Allegiance as a song that they sing in the mornings and include some kind of mathematical game using blocks. Some kids need more attention then others and maybe they could hire teachers to focus on that particular group of kids. They should also focus on outside activities like relay races, and outside activities that allow them to participate in team work. The students are never to young to learn and these kinds of programs can build roots that help them remember positive things that work in life.

This school is fine. Headstarts need to update their activities and lessons for the kids. They need to make sure that every kid is learning and participating in all activities. Activities need to be advanced like counting blocks as a group game for teaching math, activities that allow them to work together and teach team work. They need to start teaching the pledge of allegiance in class as a song that they learn together. They need to make sure that all students get a chance to be heard and involved in all lessons and activities. I would just like my child to be pushed to knowing and understanding more while she attends head start.
Warm, Christian, inviting school. Low teacher-child ratios where the children are seen excited to come to school and sometimes even are sad to leave and wish they could stay longer. Healthy snacks are provided!
