Concord Orthopaedic trauma surgeons receive emergency patients at the Concord Hospital Jim & Marianne Cook Emergency Department which is an American College of Surgeons certified Level III Trauma Center 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Electrocardiogram
Patients over 50 years of age or patients with pre-existing medical conditions will be scheduled for pre-surgery testing. The central schedulers at Concord Orthopaedics will work with you to identify the most convenient place for pre-surgery testing to take place. Some of the tests that might be done during pre-surgery testing may include blood work and/or an electrocardiogram. Please bring all the medication you are taking in their original containers or a current list of the medications (including herbal supplements) and dosages at the time of your pre-surgery testing visit.

Sciatica
Back/leg pain, frequently referred to as sciatica, is often caused by inflammation of a disc and/or nerves. An epidural injection targets this pain by injecting a steroid (anti-inflammatory) medicine into the epidural space. The epidural space is the space outside the covering of the spinal cord. The epidural injection may help an injury to heal by reducing inflammation in the area. It may provide permanent relief or a period of pain relief for several months while the cause of the pain is healing. Injections are usually done as a series of three, spaced apart by two to three weeks.

A variety of joints can be operated on using arthroscopy: knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, ankle, hip. Little pain results from this kind of surgery, allowing most operations to be performed on an outpatient basis at our Orthopaedic Surgery Center. Cartilage and ligament tears in the knee, bursitis, shoulder dislocations, and rotator cuff injuries are all treatable using this technique. Even complex knee ligament reconstructions are routinely done using arthroscopy.

What is Orthopaedic Traumatology? Orthopaedic Traumatology refers to the orthopaedic care of patients with difficult or complex fractures, non-unions (the failure of a fractured bone to heal normally) and mal-unions (incomplete healing or healing in a bad position). Orthopaedic trauma is a severe injury to part of the musculoskeletal system such as a bone, joint or ligament. Leading causes of orthopaedic trauma include vehicular and industrial accidents, slips, falls or sports injuries.
