If I could rate a minus, I would ! I made reservations on 9/2/14 for Saturday 9/20 this was our 27th anniversary weekend and I wanted it to be special. When we arrived we were told by Nancy that she knew she forgot something and that there was no room for us she gave it to someone else. And that we could have a free night some other time. We tried going into Madison to find a room and EVERYTHING was booked due to a badger game and the college having a parents weekend,

So we ended up coming home and will plan another weekend away. But, no where near Columbus Carriage B & B.

BTW its funny she forgot when I have emailed several times and called leaving a recorded message,.

By what she also told us. I believe she had a chance to fill all the rooms for a wedding party so she bumped us. But a call for us to make other plans would have the right thing to do! Instead of waiting for us to show up. Really you better think twice before booking here because if something better comes along. you will be left high and dry.

Overall

This was a great find for us. We called on B&B's for a last minute getaway. All were full and we found this one in my hometown. It did not exist when I grew up there and now living in Madison rarely go back to little Columbus. Booking was very easy.

The owners had been away when we arrived. They gave us instructions on how to enter. When we arrived there was a nice note and options on which room to choose. They also left out wine and snacks. We found a lovely room on the second floor. The house as a whole was extremely clean. It was built in 1903 if I recall. The molding and decor are very antique which creates a wonderful setting.

The Columbus Carriage House is walking distance to downtown for dinner. We drove because of the rain but would love to go back on a nice summer day and walk around town. The library is nearby and the town was home of Johnny Depp Public Enemy movie.

We relaxed for awhile on the main level with some wine and it was like the house was ours. No one else was there. We went to a local brewery for dinner and then returned to the Columbus Carriage House for a glass of wine and retired for the night.

We woke and went to the main level to meet the owners. Both were lovely people. We enjoyed a chat during breakfast and learned more about the house and Columbus. We were supposed to do a carriage ride which would have been extra BUT mother nature did not cooperate so we have a reason to go back!!

Thank you so much Nancy and Wayne for a great memory and stay!!
