My daughter recently had her wedding here. This is a beautiful venue with great food. The event dinner packages are very reasonable and you can add in open bar options for only a few dollars more. They provide the linens at no extra cost. There is a sound system in house and you can use your own music or they have satellite radio available. This is really a wonderful place with historic charm in the Brewery District of Columbus, Ohio. Right next to German Village.
Now, to the downside. The manager/proprietor is very rude and is not friendly at all. Well, the entire staff is not friendly. You will not get a smile out of any of them. We had complaints out of many guests about their attitudes and their downright poor customer service. We paid for an open bar with premium liquor and they didn't even have tequila available. Many guests were informed they didn't have the necessary ingredients on hand for simple drinks. They also ran out of some of the wine. They seem pretty disorganized. After the ceremony there, we were asked what time did we want dinner served. We assumed it would be ready immediately after the ceremony. Isn't this something that should have been asked weeks before the wedding? So, now we had guests waiting to eat. To kill time while now waiting for dinner, we decided to take pictures outside, only to be interrupted by the manager to inform us dinner was now ready and we needed to go in right then. After dinner we wanted to go ahead and get the cake cutting out of the way. At this point, no one had even been able to go dancing in the other room. I asked the manager if we could get the cake plates since there were none on the cake table and they are supposed to provide the cake cutting services. He informed me they would not bring them out until the bride and groom did ""the traditional cake cutting"". Well, the bride and groom weren't doing that, but I guess it didn't matter. I finally just told the guests to go dance since the end of the night was getting closer and no one had even danced yet. After getting everyone to go to the dance room, the manager wanted to know why everyone was going downstairs because they were serving the cake! Everyone had about 30 minutes to dance and then it was time to pack up. After leaving that night, one of my daughters and another person informed me the staff were eating our appetizers before I got there. We wondered why some things ran out before all the guests had even gotten their appetizers--now we know why. Several guests didn't receive their salads with their dinner and when telling the waitress, my daughter was informed that ""we already put them up."" At least 6 guests didn't attend, and their dinners were not offered to my daughter to have boxed up. $52.00 per dinner and I guess they just disappeared.
This place clearly isn't popular because of their customer service or their value of the customer. The location, affordability, venue charm and food are its selling points. Such a shame. A place as nice as this should have impeccable customer service. They don't seem to value their customers at all. It seems they know that they will have the business regardless. You almost wonder if they even like dealing with the public or even appreciate your business. Based on the venue and food, this place deserves an excellent rating, but their customer service kills it.
