My doctor sent me this hospital to get a chest xray. I drove up, walked in and got the xray.
Imagine my surprise when a month later I got $389 bill for it.
I had similar xray done at a local xray place for $110 and at an urgent care place for my son I only paid $55 for the same chest lateral and frontal views.
My insurance paid $160, they insisted on collecting the rest from me.
Imagine if you get a major surgery and these people charge you double teh market price and your insurance pays only part and the ""Doctor's Hospital"" come after you for the rest of the thousands of overcharged bills.
This will be the last place I would like to end up for any major surgery. I would loose my home, retirement and my credit.
It is unfortunate that Hospitals are not required to declare there charges in advance to you; nor are they required to charge the same fee for same procedure to all patients. One guy they charge 50 bucks next guy gets hammered with $500 bill.
You ask them How much will it be they will say we don't know.
Health care reform is so badly needed in this country.

I brought my son in for treatment on wed. He complained of arm pain.
Prior to this visit he had surgery in MN. Back in November for a number of breaks and fractures in his arm. He has hardware in his arm. The car accident he was in also broke ribs and his back; punctured a lung and internal bleeding of two other organs.
He has smoked heroin in the past and has been clean for over a month. This was done to ease the pain; in his defense he had no family doctor nor did his father get him pain management in MN. after his car accident injury. So he started to self manage his pain. NOT RIGHT BY ANY MEAMS. But a reason.
So at the ER wed. His father said he was just there for drugs and there is nothing wrong with him. The doctors took an X-ray said the hardware was in place with no damage. Now mind you this is a teen with an elbow enlarged to the same degree as his upper arm, and a pain level of 10 and they sent him home without a CAT scan or ultra sound; with Ibuprofen.
This is a father with a history of blood clots that should have recommended additional care. And the negligence of a hospital that did not treat my son fairly; its no wonder people are not honest with doctors and their addictions.
So I took him back to the hospital 6 days later on Tuesday; with his arm even larger, vomiting and tingling through his arms and legs with a fever. With an ultra sound they found a pocket of infection the size of a soft ball; infection might have now reached the bone. So they have admitted him for surgery and depending on how infected he is he will remain at the hospital for 3-5 days; (pending) minor or major surgery.
Then in ER I was asked to pay an additional $25.00 copay for the second visit; No way, what a joke. In my opinion The Visit To ER on Wed. should be a total comp visit as well.
With the proper diagnoses this surgery could have been prevented. If they started intense antibiotics a week ago my son would not be at doctors west for an extended stay. Well; they have to make their money some how.

I was referred to this hospital ER by my new family doctor. I was having symptoms that could have been heart related. ER cardialogist wanted to do a heart catherization test because of my condition, lab reports and family history. This didn't happen. I overheard the Dr. I saw saying if she were at Riverside we could do the test now and not wait until Mon. I was admitted on a Friday & scheduled for stress test on Mon. On Sunday a case mgr. came in to talk with me and my husband. Said my insurance only allows for 2 day stay for chest pains. Mon. am a house doctor came in to inform me I was being discharged. No tests were done yet. Finally at 11:30 I was taken to a cardiologist's office connected to the hospital for the test because the 2 ladies running the stress test lab at the hospital called off. Hmm should have ran then realizing this hospital only has 2 women on staff to do the test. Test was done poorly, iv blew so there is no way my heart received the medicine required to speed up the heart but got a positive report from the rude, arrogant Dr. I was discharged with a blood pressure reading of 191/111! The bottom line is the moment my coverage stopped so did the treatment, testing and concern. Never again will I entertain going to this hospital for anything!!
