General Info:
The Cat Welfare Association was founded in 1945 by a small group of people who saw the need for an organization designed specifically to help the many stray and abused cats in the Columbus area. We are a non-profit organization that's objective has always been to promote better care and understanding of cats while providing for the physical welfare of homeless cats and kittens. The cats taken into our care are strays and frequently have been abused or injured. We give them plenty of tender loving care along with any necessary medical treatment they might need. Our shelter provides a home for these cats and kittens until they are adopted-- whether it be for a short time or if they live out the rest of their lives in our shelter.

This is a great place to adopt! They seem to care very much about their animals and the staff is extremely friendly! I adopted a kitten there and even convinced my mom to adopt from there as well!

Cat Welfare is truly a NO-Kill Shelter

We have visited the Cat Welfare Saturday garage sale a funding for many years, and visited the shelter to just ""pet"" the kitties, sharing the love of ""homeless "" cats. \r Cat Welfare is a very well-run organization.... filled with loving folks who truly care for all cats in their care. \r We adopted Sasha Fierce who had been hit by a car as a kitten, and had received over $1000 worth of care by a compassio... view more

Please support Cat Welfare

The staff at Cat Welfare are the best! They truly care about the welfare of the cats. The volunteers are very devoted and reliable. It is a shame that there is such an overpopulation of cats today. However, Cat Welfare is the best resource we have in Columbus to help. They are always in need of assistance (cat food, litter, monetary donations etc). I will continue to do my part to help this wonderful organizatio... view more

They are NOT a no-kill shelter

Hate to break it to you everyone... Unfortunetly they are not a "no-kill" shelter. I came to a volunteer meeting in hopes to become part of the team and donate my time. One of the first things the lady said was that the term "no-kill" is no longer "PC" so they do not use it. Meaning... the shelter does what it has to do. As far as the people who work there... they have been friendl... view more

Do Not Get Your Cat From This Shelter

I love cats and currently own one cat and foster regularly. However, I do not recommend getting your cat from this shelter. Try CHA or Pets Without Parents instead (the one other shelter to adopt a cat in Columbus is the Humane Society and I don't recommend them just because they are crowded, unfriendly, and it is difficult to see all the cats and play with them to decide which you want to adopt).\r \r This shelt... view more

Wonderful cats, caring staff and volunteers, excellent community service

Cat Welfare has been around for years and years and after visiting to check out the facility and their adoption criteria, we decided to adopt an adult cat that had been injured by a car and had lost all his teeth. We took to him immediately and he turned out to be the sweetest pet ever. Cat Welfare had received the cat from someone who brought him in after the accident. They had a vet see to his injuries and they ten... view more
