Overall
money money sorry about your luck

I had taken this kitten to my vet on Friday but he seemed to be having more problems than just worms. The cat has an upper respiratory infection which was not apparent when it first seemed to be sick. My vet is off until tomorrow.

So I called Banfield on Chantry. As a number of years ago I'd had good luck with Banfield at Easton.

They lost my appointment out of their computer before I arrived there Sunday afternoon. There was a man there who had been quoted very high prices about his sick pouch. He was leaving there clearly heartbroken and not knowing what to do. The lady behind the desk was not nice, very bossy, and something about the place was making me very uncomfortable. Banfield wanted me to bring the kitty back today and leave it for four hundred plus dollars worth of tests, not to mention the cost of keeping it overnight.

My vet will be in again on Tuesday. However I'm taking the kitty in tonight to another local vet (found good reviews on line) - because I might need another back up vet sooner or later. This vet sounded sympathetic and caring about animals on the phone.

Today I've gone on line and I've read horror stories about Banfield nationally. How horrible.

Overall
I will never go here again!

I took my dog in for her shots last August. I was lectured for 30 minutes by the 1 vet about not using online pharmacies. This topic came out of nowhere and she ranted & raved about this without even finding out if I used them. They then (like they have all 4 times I have been there) tried to sell me about $50.00 worth of products that I did not need and were totally unnecessary. This included dog shampoo - after I had told them 3 times that I had the Petsmart groomer bathe her; I did not do that myself.
I then, a few months later, took my cat in for his booster shots. I was, this time, lectured about my cat being overweight. The vet made it sound as if he was grossly overweight. And yet the other vets he has been to have told me he was slightly overweight, but he was a big cat. I was told by a vet when he was 4 months old that he would probably be around 18# full grown. He weighs 18.5#. The vet then told me "I assume your dog is also overweight" and lectured me on my dog's feeding habits. #1 - the vet did not remember ever seeing my dog and said she "assumed" she was overweight. #2 - my dog's feeding habits are such because this is the only way to keep her from being UNDERWEIGHT & I was told to feed her this way BY A VET. And #3 - this is the first time in my dog's life she has not been underweight.
I was also, once again, pushed to buy products that were unneeded and unnecessary.
I wrote their corporate office a complaint letter after taking my cat in for his shots. I did receive a phone call about my letter, but was basically told that I was the first person to complain & they didn't know what to tell me & they didn't plan to do anything about it.
Yesterday I went to 1-800-PETMEDS to refill her heartworm preventative. Since this is a prescription medication they must acquire approval from the vet before filling. Banfield refused to approve it. I called them today and was told that I either must get the medication from them or PAY to have them approve the medication.
This is an unethical and unprofessional way to make money. I feel that Banfield does not care about the pets they treat, but only how much money they can make.
