one of my favorite Chinese restaurants The food is really good..never had anything I did not like-love the moo shu veggie -- but why I really like this restaurant is the girl who takes the orders. She is nice and she always brings the food out to my brother and I. The rest of the staff was also very nice once helping me find my car keys I had dropped in the dark parking lot denoting considerable time to help me find them which in my panic I appreciated. I also like that they have no problem with special requests I have made and they even charge you the same when they add an extra veggie or even less when I requested just broth when I was fasting drinking only fresh juices, herbs and broths as part of a health building program to try to beat a recent cancer diagnosis. I'm on day 47 of my planned 120 day juice fast and I am sure I will be in to get more delicious broth which helps tide me over when I start craving food. . Awaiting the day when I can again eat some of the many choices. I was just talking to another patron who said he liked the food so much there that it is the only Chinese restaurant he goes to. He could not have made a better choice..not the fanciest but a great little place located near Eastland mall in a nearby shopping center off Hamilton road south of refugee one block or so. Great job, staff, on everything from friendliness, price, service and of course, yummy. attractive food. So glad we live close by..I believe they are friendlier than most of the other Chinese restaurants I have been to and a little more willing than some of the restaurants to make adjustments/special requests for the customers. At restaurants that refused to do this, I don't go there anymore as the request is simple and It makes me feel they are not concerned about their customers..here they are concerned in your happiness and dining pleasure and I like that. I feel better when I see the server's friendly smile. They would get even more kudos from me if they would offer brown rice and even more veggie dishes as well as I am trying to eat more vegan and healthier than before. I hope they will consider this request as I am seeing more and more Chinese restaurants offering brown rice and vegetarian entries than ever. As more people are wanting to eat whole grains and are going vegetarian or vegan or at least cutting back on meat so if they offer more of this, they can please both meat eater and those on a plant based eating plan.
My father, who grew up just outside of New York City and lived there until he was in his early 30s, is highly critical of any Chinese restaurant we go to that isn't in NYC. Even when we go back to New York, he never feels they're as good as they used to be. So the fact that he feels Peking Dynasty is comparable to those great Chinese restaurants of his young adulthood is a huge compliment. I don't think we've had a single bad dish there, and my friends and family and I have sampled their menu pretty extensively. Bonus: For vegetarians like my sister-in-law (or for those trying to be a little more healthy), they're willing to make pretty much any meat dish with tofu instead, and they've even added my old standby (General Tso's Tofu) to the official menu. Also, I think my boyfriend is addicted to their spring rolls (he'll routinely order half a dozen or more at a time). Their prices are very reasonable, the dining room is attractive, service is quick (never have to wait more than 10 minutes for carryout orders!), and the owner and employees are courteous and friendly. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the whole city, and considering how many great restaurants Columbus has to offer, that's saying something!
So, it goes like this. I had a hankering for some Chinese on a Friday afternoon. Luckily, I was without a car or mothod of transportation so it had to be delivered. I knew this place delivered so I gave 'em a buzz! I asked what their spiciest dish was, which the obviously Asian gentleman said Hunan Chicken. I told him I would take it and when asking if they had side dishes, he said "How many you have?". So, I dropped the question. He then said they have 2 sizes, small and large. I took the large as I wasn't goint to keep asking misdirected, pointless questions. The man did not give me a total but said it was fine and then I asked for an ETA, which he said 45 minutes. It came 30 minutes later and oh yeah, I ordered a large side of Fwied Wice too. It came to $19.45 for a good sized Hunan Chicken, Large side of fwied wice and 2 fortune cookies, no plasticware included. Luckily, I had utensils. Food was about a 3.5 out of 5, but not worth the money! Go elseware if able!
