This is not a Tex-Mex Restaurant. This is a Mexican Restaurant. Alisha and her late husband opened this restaurant more than 40 years ago. One of Alisha's sons runs it now. Alisha, a native Mexican, makes her food just like the average Mexican family ate at home. This was the first Mexican restaurant in town and long before Tex-Mex became the standard. Locals forget to make this distinction. There is no cheese dip or guacamole. There are no burritos or Chimichangas. The tacos are not stuffed with cheese. The taco shells are so thin and crisp that they melt in your mouth. The menu consists of a Small Plate, Medium Plate, or Large Plate. The plates consist of Taco (1 on Small, 2 on Medium, 4 on Large); enchaladas (more the bigger the plate), tamale, rice and beans. From the day they opened, Alisha made everything from scratch with herbs and spices she got from Mexico. It was the real deal. If you want Tex-Mex, go elsewhere, but it you want Mexican the way you would get it (sans the hot) in a Mexican home, this is the place. The prices are a bit higher; about $8.00 - $10.00 for a plate. This is a local, homeowned business. Warning: that yellow colored hot sauce on your table will make smoke come out of your ears.
The food was spot on. The service was exceptional, they worked well as a team, so the customers were served quickly. The best service that I have received in a while. My waitress was nice and had a great smile. She was attentive and delivered my food hot and appealing to the eye and plat. Way to go Allyson, you truly deserve the standard 15% tip.
LOVE Brunch on Sundays. The seafood is fresh and the chef knows his way around the kitchen. Enjoy the service as well. Staff are so friendly and make you feel so welcomed. EVERYTHING is good!
