The Doctors here have a bad bedside manner. They love to wait till you are eating to want to talk to you. Housekeeping comes in while you're eating to clean or while you're asleep. The kitchen staff can't get a single order correct. I've had a few excellent nurses that were very nice & did everything they could to keep me happy & make up for all mistakes & aggrevation that the other staff was causing me. I requested to speak with the Administration & I over heard a nurse tell another staff member that the AOD REFUSED to come talk to me. Lisa Snelgrove in Patient's Relation is a rude ass woman who accused me of saying something I didn't say & said that I need to RESPECT the employees. It takes forever to get someone to respond when you call. I was choking & hit the call button. They heard me coughing & say choking. It took them 15-20 mins to come check on me.

I also had a very bad experience when I had a small hernia operation and was told by the doctor that I would have to stay overnight as my fiance was out of state. I was woken up every three hours for one or another useless procedure which they charged top dollar for. The nurse got my file mixed up with someone else who had some kind of skin disease. Next thing I'm told that they were going to quarantine me. They charged me close to $9000.00 for one night in hospital and treated me like a doormat I will never set foot in that hospital again.

If you can avoid ending up in their ER, do so...

One of my children was admitted to this hospital recently and received poor treatment. Procedure patient did not agree to was preformed and other patient rights were violated. No patient should be treated this way. Totally unacceptable, unprofessional and abusive. I will save the details of the patient encounter to take up with the hospital. Unfortunately I cannot give zero stars.I believe the reviews written here regarding negative outcomes. The positive reviews seem to be quick 5-star rating posts probably by hospital staff. If you track the emails back I'm sure this is what you will find - hospital trying to bring up its negative rating. Unfortunately, patients' hands are tied and it is next to impossible to report abuse as they are very secretive. They would not provide me with the name of the nurse and doctor who provided my child's care. And to do so would require the case going to "audit"?? Further, the hospital is a large entity and probably next to impossible to fight legally for patients without means. This is a huge black eye for the hospital system and I encourage those who have been treated unjustly to take action and let their voices be heard. I am so sorry for the mother who experienced giving birth at this hospital with a heartbreaking outcome. At least my child is alive and well, but the negative experience will remain forever and abusive practices need to be stopped. I am sorry that these instances give Palmetto Health a bad name as I am sure this hospital has some compassionate, capable nurses, doctors and staff, it is unfortunate that my child's experience was not with those individuals and that a few "bad apples" can blemish a patient's experience.

I took my friend here a few night ago after he'd been hit by a car. He was okay - in need of a few stitches, but ultimately okay. We were the only people in the waiting room for the E.R. so I figured we'd be admitted quickly. The admitting staff was absolutely horrible. We could hear them making fun of my friend (he'd been drinking some) and they apparently couldn't read ANYTHING I'd written on the admitting form. After forty five minutes my friend still hadn't been admitted, and every time the doorway to the E.R. opened to let a guard through a nurse out for the night I could see nurses and doctors just standing there talking. Apparently the health of my friend was just considered low priority - even though i'd made it clear he'd been hit by a car and could've had a concussion for all they knew! Sick of the terrible treatment, I took my friend elsewhere.

Baptist Hospital is AWESOME! Top care always! I would be hard pressed to send my family any where else. Bad things happen every where...at every medical facility. But I promise that Baptist hospital gives each and every patient kind, warm, compassionate treatment that you can't find anywhere else. At Baptist you are treated like a real person...not a number. The staff goes above and beyond the call of duty! The engineering department does everything it possibly can to make sure that you are comfortable...especially in times of crisis. Way to go Baptist Hospital! You guys ROCK!

My mother went to the hospital...

My mother went to the hospital with constipation. They did a CAT scan and said her appendix was ruptured and needed to be removed. Guess what? They cut her open and discovered they were mistaken. They took out her appendix anyway even though it was fine. I have talked with several people there and no one can even get her on the phone. I guess the government and insurance company will pay thousands for the hospital's mistake. What a joke!

babies.... not here

Having my child at the hospital was the worst thing I have done in my life. They never told me they were going to 'save' my 25 week baby.... I thought she was going to die. Then they put her on experimental equipment, did 7 bllod transfustions, and even a spinal tap without consent.... then when I told them...that they did not have consent they wanted me to sign a blank consent form.

Needless to say I moved my baby but by then the damage was done.

The hospital did not care. The medical board did not care and the police said nothing could be done but that they understood I was mad.

SO my child will pay the price for the rest of her life with brain damage.

I would not go here...
