Speak PigLatin for great food Colorado Springs Food Guy went to the PigLatin food truck at the Curbside Cuisine Downtown located at 225 N Nevada Ave., at the corner of Nevada Avenue and Platte Avenue in Colorado Springs. They are only open weekdays for lunch between 11am-2pm. I tried the Piggy Grilled Cheese and it was delicious. It melts in your mouth. The Piglatin Plate was also sampled. Although the rice and beans were a little bland for my taste, the marinated pork and sweet plantains were fantastic. However, the masterpiece was the Stacked Arepa. The marinated pulled pork was succulent, the corn tortilla was just the right texture to carry the pork and the mozzarella cheese however it was the sweet plantains that caused a flavor explosion. To top it off, the staff was super friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. In the quest for good food, stop at the PigLatin food truck the next time you are downtown for lunch. The restaurant is clean and the waitress was polite. The food prices were slightly above what we have seen in similar restaurants, but was fair. The food was tasty, but the Fried Mondu (aka Yakimondu/egg rolls etc) was nearly tasteless. It seemed to lack seasoning and I did not taste or see any meat in it. However, it was not oily and had it been seasoned better, it would have been better. Also, the order came with 5 and that equated to a dollar per egg roll. The Korean style side dishes were skimpy, but taste good. Their was music playing too loud and it was not pleasant nor the type one might expect in a restaurant. Maybe a good place to order and take home, but the dining experience itself was not what I would recommend.
This is the best Vietnamese food we'r tasted! We loce the potato fritters, egg rolls and steak soup. The homemade sauces are really wonderful. Warm atmosphere and good service.
