My 11-yr old son has been attending for over 3 years and is working toward his brown belt; my 8-yr old son started the Dragons program recently after finishing Tiny Tigers and is working toward a purple belt. You can read about the instructors at their website to get a sense of how they teach-- what I want to share is how they interact with the kids: maintaining firm control and discipline with gentle patience and consistency (keeping it safe for everyone); using games, drills and repetition; and giving positive feedback when it is earned. The kids embrace it enthusiastically. They love their senseis and orbit them like planets around the sun. :) Warning: be prepared for L-O-N-G belt tests...even for the little kids. It would be nice if they had a larger facility so parents could sit down, in the meantime, wear comfortable standing shoes. If becoming a black belt is your goal, this is THE place...for kids AND adults.
Concord School of Karate is quite simply the best karate school in the Concord,CA area. I spent a long time researching different martial arts styles and schools, and this is the only one that fit my needs. Concord School of Karate teaches Gaylord's Method of Kajukenbo, a style that offers both the value of traditional martial arts and the effectiveness of reality based mixed martial arts. All of the instructors are highly experienced martial artists as well as excellent teachers, motivators, and mentors. If you are looking for a school that provides a family environment and high caliber martial arts, I highly recommend Concord School of Karate.

Any promotions in this Dojo are really earned, not sold. The traditional values and high ethical standards provide an exceptional environment. I have been involved with martial arts on and off since 1999. One of the things that I learned, was to learn from a good teacher. Master Tomizaki is the best. I am now learning real kung fu. It's not just the forms, but how to us the movements in the form, why we have the movements, and how to apply them in sparring. The same with the weapons. It's enlightening, and I love it. My fellow classmates are supportive. I look forwards to coming to every class.
I take the kickboxing/fitness classes and love it! The class times are convinient. The routine's change often and stay interesting. The instructors are very motivating and the prices are really good. I'd definently recommend it to a friend!
