Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel
Resorts
1717 S. Disneyland DriveAnaheim, CA 92802
When you go to the Disneyland Resort, stay at a Disney-run
hotel if you can afford it. You'll cut down on time wasted having to park , and
the long lines out front. The tradeoff, of course, is budget. This is the most
affordable of the resort hotels, and it's actually a bit calmer than the other
properties. You can see the nightly fireworks from the rooftop pool, and from
some rooms or hallway vantage points, you can also check out the parade and
World of Color.
If you want to do something a little extra for the kids, book a character breakfast at Disney's PCH Grill. The park is not immediately out the hotel front door, but getting to Disney California Adventure Park is just a quick walk across the street and through Disney's Grand Californian (where you can put kids in the Pinocchio's Workshop kids club for a few hours and enjoy a romantic dinner at Downtown Disney).

Woodloch Pines Resort
Resorts
731 Welcome Lake RdHawley, PA 18428
The classic family resort/spa/camp in the mountains--this is
the kind of deluxe family summer camp vacation that most people only saw on
'Dirty Dancing.' But a lucky segment of Nor'Easters know that it's real. And, it's all-inclusive.
Surrounded by woods, lakes, rivers, and riding trails, the setting is nature at its most stunning. There are tons of activities including bumper boats and an indoor kiddie splash zone, boat rides, and wine tasting. The organized activities of the day might include family scavenger hunts, bocce competitions, baking contests, hay rides, and family movie nights.

Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort
Resorts
22 Harbourside LnHilton Head Island, SC 29928
It's a Disney property, but not as you envision one. First,
strip away the Orlando or SoCal madness -- and the costs. This resort is on the lushly vegetated, not
overdeveloped South Carolina coast. And
while it's on Hilton Head (one of the nicer areas), it still offers value
rates. There are tons of children's activities, from the Big Dipper activity
pool to the family campfires and movie nights to the teen kayaking excursions.
Also, the resort has kid-friendly décor and a Disney-themed beach house, but it
isn't over-the-top with costume character shenanigans. It's surrounded by water
on three sides, and offers 12 miles of gorgeous Atlantic beachfront.
The Resort At Paws Up
Ranches
40060 Paws Up RdBonner, MT 59823
So the kids love camping, and you prefer a spa resort. There
is a happy medium: Glamping on the river bank at this media-fave Montana guest
ranch, where even the tents have electricity, chef cuisine, and...wifi!
Cabins are available for larger parties, and you can even bring the dog. Perks
for parents include: a full-service spa, fine dining, and a fitness center.
Perks for kids: a petting zoo, a treehouse play area, pony rides, a lake with a
rope swing. And for the whole family, there's fishing, rafting, cattle drives,
chuck wagon cookouts and tons more. This is a pricey place, especially for a
ranch stay, but meals, transfers and a lot more is included in the overall
rate.
John Carver Inn & Spa
Medical Spas
25 Summer StPlymouth, MA 02360
This part of Massachusetts has it all, as a vacation spot: Amazing beaches,
cute little towns, great food, U-Pick berry farms, and historic attractions
that aren't boring. This particular hotel has proximity to Plymouth Beach
and Plimoth Plantation, and is in the town of Plymouth (about 20 minutes from Cape Cod) -- all plusses. And it
also has a Plymouth-themed aqua park/pool, which is an unexpected huge perk for
keeping the kids happy when parents tire of entertaining them and just want to
chill in the hotel. The spa has treatments for dads, moms and kids, as
well. It's right in town and just a
quick walk from the waterfront.
Welk Resorts
Resorts
1984 State Highway 165Branson, MO 65616
There's nothing too grownup or sophisticated at this Branson
hotel, truth be told, but it boasts so many things that are great for families.
For starters, there is a mini-aqua park in the hotel. Other activities include
cookouts, game nights, mini-golf, and, of course, shows at the Welk Theater. Besides the many musical attractions of
Branson, the hotel is also convenient to Silver Dollar City, caving adventures,
go-carting, and another huge outdoor waterpark.
Sandpiper A Cape Resort
Resorts
11 Beach AveCape May, NJ 08204
Somewhere between a hotel and a summer home, these
family-sized units offer great beach access, clean and comfortable
accommodations, and options to suit different needs. Poolside lunch is a resort amenity, but full
kitchens are what you need to keep the kids well fed and in snacks all
day.
Next-door sister property Congress Hall might have the swanky drinking venues, but Sandpiper has balconies big enough to host a small cocktail evening when you can't get a sitter. With all the great amenities of multiple resorts, a great beach, and a historic, upscale Jersey Shore address, this property can offer an idyllic family vacation at a reasonable price point.
