Overall

On Aug. 21, 2015 I took my dog in for a complaint of coughing. After being evaluated by the Doctor McCracken, she stated his lungs sounded clear (no x-ray was taken or even an option to have an x-ray)and that he had gingivitis and needed his teeth cleaned. They scheduled the teeth cleaning for three weeks later and gave him antibiotics for the gingivitis. I took him in for his teeth cleaning appt. on Sep. 2nd and a different doctor (Dr. Pickens) looked at him and he stated he didn't feel the teeth was the issue for the coughing and that he wanted to do an x-ray and some lab work. The results of the test showed that my dog had bronchitis and he needed a steroid and antibiotic. I received my bill and I stated I was not going to pay a re-exam fee. I had no issue paying the x-ray, lab work, or medication but I felt the re-exam fee was unnecessary as he came in the first time for the same issue and it was left untreated. After arguing with the vet's office they took off the charge. I was upset with the vet but in no way cursed or screamed at them. On Nov 20th, I called to make an appt. gain as the cough had returned. I stated I would like to see Dr. Pickens as he was the one who found the issue with my dog. On Nov 23rd the vet's office called to "alert" me that monies are due at time of service and that I was un-happy with the service the last time. I stated I was happy with the service the last time but just didn't think the charge was appropriate but I would like to keep the appointment because we were going out of town. The next day (the day of the apt) they called to tell me that the doctor would not see my dog. I even offered to pay upfront because I needed the appt and they refused. They could have told me the day I made the appt. they weren't going to see me, instead of forcing me to find a new vet in one day. I work in Healthcare and felt this matter was handled very poor. I was a customer for 2 1/2 yrs. and had no other issues paying what I thought was a fair. I am extremely disappointed.
