I always thought the only place to get a good hot dog was at a sporting event. That is no longer true. I have now been going on a regular basis to Acme (sometimes 2 or 3x/week) and plan on continuing to do so. Mark and his wonderful staff of young people make it a pleasureable experience in trying "dogs" served in many variations. You name it, and he has the toppings. My favorites include the Big Kahuna (onion, green peppers, and pineapple.); Ruben Dog; Boston Bean, and the "Chicago Dog". Acme beats out Wholly Joe's (Polaris Pkwy), Dog Joint (Westerville) and the long standing Phillips Coneys (downtown Columbus and OSU campus). Also try the Sea Dog (fish) and the many styles of sausages that are also available. All sides are homemade - cole slaw, baked beans, potato and mac salad, German potato salad, mac and cheese, etc. Desserts include Aunt Judy's brownie, Velvet ice creams, shakes and malts. In the mood for "Fair" food try the fried cheese on a stick, funnel cakes and funnel fries. New to the menu and soon to be tried fried bologna. Definitely a 5 star experience. Gail

Rosemary fries are adictive. Burgers are bigger and tastier than their competition - but priced higher too. Service is excellent, but, the "I" instead of "we" implies only the waiter was responsible and not the rest of the staff. As a manager myself who is focused on team building this is very disconcerting. Then there's the guy who thinks I can't pour a shake from the mix cup to a glass. I'm not an eight year old! But that strawberry shortcake shake was excellent. Since it was a nearly two hour drive to get there from western part of the state, next time I get to C'bus I'll most likely end up at Thurmans, closer, bigger burgers, better atmosphere etc. Bottom line: food four stars, service would be four but for the above, so can't say better than three stars. Sorry Michael.
They take not one, but 2 mouth watering, savory, delectable, 100% angus patties. Pile on amazingly delicious Fresh toppings (at no extra charge). I'm talking about sauteed mushrooms, green peppers, cheese, tomatoes, whole trees (just kidding), and more! Pile that baby up, deep fry a bag of hand cut potatoes, whip together a home made milkshake, and hand you a glorious mountain of high calorie, artery clogging, savory goodness. If you haven't eaten here yet, you might want to. Not only is the food amazingly good, but also the atmosphere and hand painted grafitti covered walls. Michigan Fans need not reply, because Scarlet and Grey pride hover over the the golden plated flat top grill at this establishment.
