El Mexicano Urban Bistro

I don't know of many Mexican restaurants, but I enjoy coming here. They often have Mariachi on the weekend. It is a casual place and the service is good. I think the owner has all hands on deck - you see several folks serving. Not so sure if the food is as authentic as it could be. Serving size is good. A bowl of black bean soup is filling by itself. I've had better spicier verde topping. It's a good alternative to chain stores.

Ate lunch there yesterday 2/26/09 for the first time. From the outside not so appealing, but the inside decor is true Mexican! And they had real Mexican music playing. The food was GREAT! I'm Puerto Rican and their black beans were as good as my mom's! (she said so herself!). $7 lunch special with 3 sides, couldn't finish it! So fresh and tasty. I had the steak burrito, my mom the chicken fajita (was in a light tomatoe sauce that was great! normally I hate fajitas). $2 margaritas on Tuesdays! You really gotta check this place out! I usually eat in NYC at places like Rosa Mexicano, Maya and Dos Caminos and this was as good or better and much less expensive!
