I couldn't be more impressed with this massage studio. The owner, Elena, actually gave me a 70-minute massage when I only paid for 60 minutes. Also, she didn't dock my massage for undressing/prep time like most therapists do. Her style of massage was different than any I had experienced in the past. She incorporated some gentle yoga stretches into the massage (very neat, I thought!) and also gave me a great facial, head and foot massage as part of my full-body package. A lot of places I've been to use unscented lotion or oil, but she used an herbal lavender lotion that seeps down into the muscles and helps relax and sooth them. That made the massage even more relaxing. She also included a free lavender eye mask during the session, which was awesome. One thing that did seem odd to me is that when I asked her to massage my lower back a second time, she did so but then moved on stating we should move slowly since I hadn't had a massage in quite a while. At first I thought, "Well, shouldn't I be the one to decide that?" However, I'm so glad she made that judgment call, as the amount of lower back massage she gave me was perfect and any more probably would have left a lot of bruising since I was so tense. At the end of the session, she provides free coffee, tea and Dasani water (my favorite!) and gives you ample time to get dressed and out of the office before the next client comes in. I really enjoyed my experience here and can't wait to go back, and she is making that possible by putting on some very affordable sales. (Her latest, buy a 90-minute hot stone massage for 50 percent off, which equates to $55, and get a free 60-minute massage!) She does her appointment scheduling on Full Slate, so I haven't had any issues with that. Just email to confirm if you don't get a confirmation email, because I didn't get one at first and she had to manually confirm. I would agree that her English skills are limited somewhat since English is her second language, but that in no way interfered with her ability to provide me with great service. When I was done she shook hands with me and gave me a coupon for a future visit. She was very polite and asked me if I was OK throughout the massage to make sure that she wasn't putting too much or too little pressure. I'm not sure what the other reviews are about, but my experience was certainly all good.

I am a 59 year old woman who was diagnosed with M.S. 12 years ago. One Sunday while watching T.V. I felt this overwhelming weakness in my body and my usual chronic pain level shot up. I asked to go to the emergency room knowing I would need steroids to pump myself up. What happened next was a whirlwind. By the time I reached the E.R. I coulnd't move either arm, lift my head and could barely move my legs. Things then escalated quickly and I was admitted to Southwest Hospital where I spent the next 5 days. I was then told that nothing more medically could be done and that I would be transferred to a nursing home for rehab. I freaked!!! I had never been admitted to a nursing home but my mom passed away in one due to a fall that caused a hemorrhage in the brain. All I knew of nursing homes was they are filled with elderly who are sick, have dementia, are dying and that most never come out once admitted. I was terrified! I was taken to Southern Hills Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center at night. Talk about scary. I had to ring for an aide every hour or so because I was so nervous. Then I woke up in the morning after finally getting a few hours sleep and saw that I had a very nice room with a view of a very pretty courtyard. I could have visitors 24 hours a day, even my dogs. I have been here almost a month now and I can tell you my care has been wonderful. The aides, nurses and the entire staff are very good at what they do and very friendly. Their physical, occupational and voice therapists are the best. I have made much progress due to them and hope to be going home soon. I attribute my progress not only to their expertise, but to their friendliness and their ability to make it fun. If you need any kind of rehab, don't be afraid, just call Southern Hills and you will be in good hands. They even allowed my Bible study group of 9 to come every Wednesday morning. They gave us our own room to meet in, set up tables and chairs for us and even supplied carafes of coffee. Although all of the staff have been great; you have 3 exceptional nurses: Mattie, Katie and Heather.
The wonderful staff at Southern Hills are truly a blessing in our lives. My mom has been struggling with Alzheimer's for almost 3 years now. We visited many centers before coming to Southern Hills, but the moment I walked thru the door I knew this was the right place, and 3 years later that still holds true. My visits with mom start with a warm welcome and smile from Kathleen at the front desk. Walking down the halls we are greeted by the nurse aides with hellos and quick updates on mom's day. (Sherry knows everything about mom and strives to make her comfortable day in and day out!) The nurses always make time to discuss any medical concerns and it doesn't stop there. The staff beautician, Amalia, makes mom gorgeous every week and treats mom as her own mother. The head dietician, Samantha, strives to keep mom's meals individualized to her likes and dislikes.) Mom's favorite is the stuffed cabbage!) I could go on and on about every individual but truly they are all like family to me and to my mom. My own mother actually summed up our feelings about Southern Hills the best, she said to me 'honey, if I had to choose a place for my own care, this is where I would have chosen.' Enough said
