My daughter has attended Play Academy in Highland Heights for a couple of years now. The classrooms are nice and they have nice play areas for the children. There is an indoor play area that allows the children to run about even when the weather does not permit outdoor play, which is wonderful. It seems like the summer menu has improved. They would serve salsa and chips and call that a meal or a simple broth and call it soup - my daughter would be really hungry when she came home. It just wasn't a very child friendly menu. I also don't like that they close on the day before holidays. For example, I was extremely irritated that they closed on July 3 this year. I still had to work. I was put in a major bind because I didn't have any available sitter. They put a sign up with less than 2 weeks' notice, and by then, it was too late to request the day off. A child care facility should not close if it is not a holiday. I had to take an un-approved day off work. Same thing happened when they closed early for Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and the day after Thanksgiving. If it is not an official holiday, parents are not always able to get a day off. That should be taken into consideration. I am truly considering moving her to another facility with less abrupt days off. Another thing that bothers me is that there is almost no one available to speak with about questions/concerns. There used to be the owner who sat at the front desk. She was always available (or at least someone was). Now, that they've opened the new facility, the front desk is almost always unattended, and they don't take the phone with them when they walk away. If there is an emergency, which I've had, you call and get their voice mail, which from my experience, is not checked regularly. It used to be such a nice place to have your child, but they are really slipping. What a shame.

I have 2 children currently enrolled at Play Academy in Highland Heights, one is almost a year old, and the other is 3 and a half! Let me be the first to tell you, this is absolutely the best child care facility I have ever laid my eyes on! My husband and I spent weeks sifting through the many, many daycares but none seemed to grab our attention. A friend recommended me to check out Play Academy; best choice ever made! The staff is exceptionally nice and educated, and work great with children. The owner is one of the nicest women I have ever met, and her own mother is the cook. Nice home cooked meals, colorful, joyous rooms, and extremely nice people make Play Academy #1 in my book! Since I enrolled last year, I have suggested to 4 of my friends to enroll their children, and they did, and they absolutely love it also! If you are looking for safe, loving and educational child care, I STRONGLY recommend Play Academy!
