I have had two dogs trained with Terry over the years. Terry is an excellent trainer. She teaches you how to train your dog. My past dog was very well behaved and I never had to have her on a leash. She would always listen to me and follow all of my commands. My current dog is so well behaved that he seems almost human. He listens extremely well and has a great temperament. He goes everywhere with me and it never fails, people are constantly telling me how well behaved he is and that their dog would be running all over the place and would be barking. I owe it all to Terry! She's an amazing trainer! I would recommend everyone who wants a well-behaved dog to take him/her to Terry's It's a Dog's Life. You will not be disappointed. My mom has a puppy and she is currently waiting for Terry's class to begin so she can attend. She sees how it truly helped my dog.

Over the past 25 years, we have trained 5 puppies with Terry's help! If you are willing to listen to her and put in the work with your dog, she will help you train your pet so you never have to worry about his safety when you have him out with you. All of dogs (we currently have 2 who have been through training and a puppy who will be going very soon) walk off leash, come on command, lay down from a distance. They are not tied up or fenced in our yard, and I live on a main road. I know I can take them anywhere with me and they will listen to me. They stay off of my furniture and don't jump on guests. It is A LOT of work but it is worth it. People compliment us on our dogs behavior all the time (one even did commercials as she was so well trained) They would not be like this if it were not for Terry's guidance and knowledge of dog behavior! She will train you so you can train your dog! We have recommended her to many, many people all with the same results! Well trained pets!

Owner of spoiled but much loved Doggies

It's a Dog's Life is a no-frills, no BS dog training school for people who want real results. The trainer's name is Terry and she raises dogs and has been training dogs for thirty years. Before Terry was reccomended to me, I was having nothing but problems with my schnauzers. They barked all the time, they peed on the floor, they wouldn't come when I needed them to come and my friends hated coming over becuase the dogs jumped all over them. But, what could I do? I loved my dogs and even though my husband begged me to get rid of them, I just couldn't. The places I had been training seemed really good and honestly, when the dogs were being "trained" at the obedience school, they did really well - but when they would go home, it was another story and the problems never really went away. What was different? Well, I guess it must be that Terry knows and understands not just dogs but people. She knew that I love my "babies" to a fault and that was the real problem. The dogs knew I was a pushover too. Terry showed me how to communicate more effectively with my schnauzers and in time, I began to see my babies for what they really are, spoiled but much loved schnauzers. It was sort of embarrassing at first. I had to realize that i had actually caused most of the problems by letting things slide. With time and some work, my schnauzers were transformed to be model family members - not just at school but at home as well. Eventually, I adopted a new dog from a shelter. It wasn't a scnhauzer but I thought that I could use all the same methods that I had learned from Its a Dogs Life. Well, new problems cropped up - stuff I'd never dealt with before. This new dog was a lab pit bull mix and he was really pushy and would growl at my schnauzers and also, he wanted to chase cars along the fence line of my yard. He made my schnauzers crazy and they were all barking and being bad all over again and my husband threatened to leave me and take the kids if I didn't get some help. Terry Miller saved my family and my dog. I'm not kidding. Those other places that tell you to never put a dog in its place, never make it think the person is in control - they are just trainers who want in your back pocket. If I continued with their programs, I'd be in dog school every single night for life. When I get a new dog, I'll go back to Terry but right now, all my dogs are well--trained - I did it myself using the practicle methods I learned at Its a Dogs Life. I would highly recommend it. She teaches people how to train their own dogs. I know this is long but I was desperate and found what I needed right here.
