Our Mission at the Animal & Bird Hospital of Clearwater is. to provide a warm and loving environment for our patients and clients while maintaining the highest quality of medicine. The laser can be used for acute pain such as wounds, surgical incisions, intervertebral disc disease (back pain) or for chronic pain such as osteoarthritis and lick granulomas. Laser therapy can be used to decontaminate wounds and lacerations, treat chronic otitis, decrease inflammation or edema and can reduce healing time of fractures.

Vaccines tailored to your pet’s lifestyle can include rabies, distemper (DHPPC), leptospirosis, bordetella and influenza for dogs and distempter (RCCP), leukemia and rabies for cats.
Ear Infection Treatment
What makes our pet resort unique is that we are affiliated with The Animal & Bird Hospital of Clearwater. While your pet is boarding if a problem should arise the veterinarians are available to help. While it may be something as simple as vomiting, diarrhea or an ear infection, problems recognized by our skilled vet staff will be handled at our hospital. You will be notified immediately before any treatment is instituted. Only if we are faced with a real life emergency and you are unreachable will we intervene to save your pet without talking to you first. Additionally, we are prepared to have your pet examined for any problems that concern you as well as updating vaccinations and lab work. Rest assured that your pet’s safety and health are our utmost concern. We are very fortunate to be able to rely on our skilled veterinarians next door – that is not the case in the majority of pet boarding facilities.

The very definition of euthanasia is the act of painlessly causing death. It is without a doubt one of the hardest things a pet owner can be faced with. The truth is that our pets do not go quietly into the night. They are not gone in an instant by a stroke or a heart attack. Our pets die primarily of congestive heart failure, organ failure, cancer and a variety of other illnesses that may involve weeks of lingering in pain and agony. We are very fortunate to be able to cut short this time of pain for our pets.

Wound and Fracture Care
On occasion, we may call in Dr. Garcia to perform surgeries for our patients. He provides our clients an additional option for those that are unable to pursue specialized care. We are able to offer with his assistance, advanced procedures such as TPLO’s, patella luxation repairs, fracture repairs, and a wide variety of soft tissue surgeries at a reduced cost.

Ophthalmic Surgery
A Co2 laser is used to perform various surgeries including neutering, de-clawing, tumor excision, entropion eye surgery and aural hematomas. The use of a laser for surgery is less painful for your pet. The laser creates a much more precise cut than a traditional scalpel, which means there is less swelling, less bleeding, and less pain at the incision site allowing your pet a faster recovery.
Veterinary Surgery
Modern veterinary surgery on dogs and cats is done under conditions designed to minimize the chances of bacterial contamination and reduce the possibility of infections. Instruments, gowns, towels and other items such as scalpels and clamps are sterilized in an autoclave at 270 degrees under pressure for various lengths of time to kill any microorganisms. The surgeon also scrubs their hands and wears sterilized surgical gloves and wears a gown if the surgery is more than a minor procedure. By adhering to sterile surgical techniques, postoperative infections are rare.
Laser Surgery
In laser surgery, a highly focused laser beam efficiently vaporizes the living tissue while simultaneously sealing capillaries, small blood vessels, lymphatics, and nerve endings, with significant benefits to both patients and surgeons.
Declawing
Spaying and Neutering
If you have a pet that needs to be spayed or neutered, you have many clinics to choose from. Spaying or neutering is the most common surgery that any veterinarian will do but you will still want to get the very best care for your pet. This is a major surgery that is done under a general anesthetic.

Laboratory Services
An abdominal ultrasound is indicated to evaluate pets with abdominal issues such as vomiting, diarrhea, straining to urinate or urinating blood. This test can also be helpful in cases of reproductive abnormalities, unexplained fever, loss of appetite or pain. An abdominal ultrasound is often done if an X-ray, blood tests, or physical examination indicate a problem with an abdominal organ such as the liver, spleen, or pancreas.
X-Ray
X-rays for your pet is a common diagnostic tool used in medicine, digital radiology is a less common but preferred method that we use at our practice. Digital radiography are essentially digital X-rays, but they are taken and developed in a fraction of the time it takes to complete traditional film X-rays.
Dental Radiology
We use our digital radiology equipment for dental x-rays, hip dysplasia, diagnosing bone problems, lung problems, and a myriad of other conditions. When using the digital platform for dental procedures, we’re able to see below the gum’s surface to determine if there’s an abscess, or if the teeth are pulling away from the gums.
Microchipping
An excellent way to permanently identify your pet is with a microchip. If your pet is ever lost the person that finds them will check for a microchip, which will have your pet’s identifying information — including where your pet lives so they can make it home safe and sound. Microchips are very small chips that are inserted with a syringe just under the skin between the shoulder blades. It takes just a minute to do and can easily be added to any surgical procedure.
