Ten years ago, my son was born at one of the most prestigious hospital in Delaware and never missed one pediatric visit, but no one detected his eye disorder until six years ago, your school institution saved my son's eye. My son was attending Panda early education center in main street, Christiana, DE. One day he came home with a consent paper for health screening at the school which I agreed upon. That was one of the best decisions I have ever made for my child. After the school completed the screening, they detected a spot in the back of his right eye and a letter was sent home to follow up with ophthalmologist. To make a long story short, my son was diagnosed with "coats disease" a rare congenital, nonhereditary eye disorder that could lead to complete blindness if not detected and treated early. My son underwent 3-4 laser surgeries at age 4 to save his right eye.
