Amazing food!!! Hands down one of the most authentic Italian places in Chicago. Have to try the acorn squash and goat cheese!

No Al dente here

It was my first visit to Via Veneto. They made me eat fish that I didn't like!!! They tricked me! The waitress and the owner ganged up on me and accused me of not knowing how to speak Italian when ordering my meal.... I would not recommend this restaurant unless your middle name is Luigi....

Excellent Upscale Fine Dining Italian. Try the Eggplant appetizer; & entree of Stuffed Baby Squid.

Unexpectedly upscale; this restaurant serves up some fine Italian food. Decor is relatively light and modern, with black & white framed photos of Italy adorning the walls; and faux paux brick walls dividing the dining room to provide some privacy. Good start was the wonderful warm italian bread including yummy whole wheat, with the obligatory virgin olive oil and parmesian cheese on the table. Then came a complimentary Hors D'Oeuvre of tasty Bruschetta with spread of garlic and chopped tomatoes. Next came our own appetizer of grilled eggplant topped with parmesian and chopped tomatoes, that was light and tasty. For entrees, we enjoyed grilled Squid Stuffed with a mash of bread crumbs and parmesian over delicate linguine. We also tried the Spinach and Veal-stuffed Cappellacci with tomato cream sauce , which was good but the choice of pasta was not a favorite as it is too doughy. Only negative is that the place is a bit on the pricey side -- especially the wines (i.e. in my opinion overpriced); but this is somewhat compensated for by the fact that the accept Entertainment Coupon; and, then suprisingly replace it with their own 2-for-1 coupon for use on next visit. I think we will visit again -- albeit on 'special occasions'.

Perfect date spot!

I took a date here and it rocked. It was the perfect setting and the service was excellent. We had a bottle of wine (try the offer on citysearch), and shared everything. It was the best lasagna I've had since I've moved to Chicago and the Filet was as good as any steakhouse. Well done and highly recommended.

A taste of Italy- Bonjourno !

The spaghetti and the Penne was great, I especially liked the Tiramisu. I think overall this place was a grerat value, service was very good. Really a nice dinner spot, I will be back with my Husband sooner rather then later, Fantastico Tiramisu

Always a Delight!

I passed this retaurant hundreds of times and decided to give it a chance. The atmosphere was wonderful. The staff was incredibly prompt but not pushy and at no time did I feel rushed. The staff is also very knowledgeable about the menu and how the food is prepared. The food was the best Italian I have had in Chicago. I order Chicken Vesuvio at almost every Italian restaurant I try to base one against the other. It was the best I have had. I have been back multiple times and try something new every time. Give the pumpkin ravioli a try for a treat! The only thing I think is average is the desserts. I do not believe they make their own, but they are passable. Worth going to once a week.

It's just awesome!

A wonderful place with an excellent autentic italian cuisine. Service and staffs are friendly, provide you a hommy experience. A whitefish dish from special menu was absolutely fresh&delicious...Great place with reasonable price of foods and wines! Even better than the old-place in peterson, with more rooms and space, and a nice new ambiance...

Lower Your Expectations

I was expecting more after reading reviews from this site. Not much ambience in the room - the large space is sparsely decorated. Felt more like a banquet hall. The waiter was kind and prompt but clearly inexperienced: after pronouncing the Italian name of a dish off the menu we had to point to it before he could write it down. The bread was cold and stale - peculiar considering we were there before 6:30. The pastas we ordered arrived fast but tasted unremarkable. My red sauce had the peculiar tang of a sauce that was cooked for too long. The desserts fared little better. Ice cream was served in a plastic glass (!). My chocolate cake was tasty, but topped with a discolored strawberry - the kind youd throw away if it was from your own fridge. I can't even recommend on price: My pasta was over $13.
