Overall

I would never go here. My two elderly, Hungarian sister neighbors used this hospital last summer. The younger, in her late seventies, became disoriented while working out in the sun, and went to the emergency room. Long story short, they ended up trying to keep her thirty days without her consent in the psych wing, because she was 'disoriented.' Duh, heat stroke will do that! They called the sister, in her eighties, but that conversation went nowhere. I spoke later with the nurse who had called, a woman whose Chinese accent was so strong, and her English so poor, that I could not communicate with her face-to-face, let alone on the telephone, and speaking mostly Hungarian. But that was no reason, without any further outreach, to keep the sister, essential to the older sister's wellbeing, in the hospital for thirty days without her consent or even her understanding. (Ca-ching though from the medicare.) It was terrible, nightmarish, cruel. My loud intervention finally saved her.

Overall

My last ER experience was ugly. My 1 year old grand daughter had some sort of alergic rash we still don't know where it came from. We entered the hospital around 11:30 pm, sat in the waiting room and watched people after people get called before us who came after us, but I considered possible severity, but not after hours later. We didn't get called into TRIAGE mind you, until 5 am. This is a BABY for God sakes. I do know protocol, and when a baby is brought into an ER having an alergic reaction, they ARE SUPPOSED TO SEE THEM ASAP. It's a BABY. They are LUCKY it didn't turn out to be anything super serious, because I would have legally turned that so called hospital upside down. I also noticed how the bathrooms were unkept. There wasn't any soap to even wash your hands. They are the slowest hospital I have ever seen on over 30 years. They're primitive in their Patient care. My next visit to an ER will either be Illinois Masonic or Evanstan Hospitals, they are more efficient and actually CARE about their patients. The Security Guard just sat in his box all night. I had to remind the receptionist 15 times we were still waiting. Her comments were "Oh well, we're just too busy". I was like "Wow! there's hardly anyone here". When we did get called we were only seen by the Traige, and NEVER taken back to be seen by an actual doctor, and then discharged right from Triage. Like I said, they are sooo lucky this baby wasn't as sick as we initially thought. It's too bad I have to go to an ER miles from my house when SCH is only 5 minutes away. Medical School rejects is what I think.
