South Central Community Services was founded in 1970 by the residents of the Chatham and Avalon communities. Since 1981, South Central has blossomed into a major comprehensive social service agency, offering 13 different programs and services from five facilities. The company is governed by a 25-member board of directors composed of representatives from the business, corporate, government and education communities. South Central primarily serves Avalon Park, Burnside, Chatham, Englewood, Greater Grand Crossing and South Shore. South Central's staff of more than 100 members continues to diligently address the myriad of economic, educational, psychological and social challenges confronting its constituents. It provides educational, community, wellness, clinical and child welfare services and programs. South Central Community Services maintains a location in Chicago.
