I don't know how anyone could have anything bad to say about this place. The staff is wonderful. Always friendly and attentive as well as knowledgable. The food is amazing. I can be pretty pricey but I believe that it is well worth it. Beautiful decor inside as well.

In a city which banned state wide non-smoking rules, it was very disturbing to experience 3 guests in the restaurant smoking cigars!!?!! I was with several out of town guests- one of which has a severe allergic asthmatic reaction to smoke. We notified our waiter and the host who both said there was nothing they could do about it.....shocking, since it's illegal in the state of Illinois to allow such a thing. We notified 311 who will forward the complaint to the Illinois Department of Health. Nothing against smokers, but this is ILLEGAL in the city and if one restaurant can allow this, then why not all? There are many other wonderful restaurants in this city, choose another which really thinks about the guest experience first and foremost.

We went there last night and all we heard from the time we walked in the door was to ""wait"". We had a reservation but had to wait for an hour and 20 minutes to get seated. Once seated, it took too long for our wine to arrive. The food was not bad but it wasn't remarkable either. The service can throw the whole meal off!

I love dining alfresco but cannot stand flies swarming around! I don't understand why they can't get rid of this problem. There are other places like Chaise Lounge that has outdoor seating and doesn't have this problem. I gave this place two tries. The second time we ate inside and the service was not good and found everything to be overpriced.

It isn't that hard to make pasta flavorful! Add to this poor service and expensive wines by the glass. The fact that our server smelled of cigarettes was not appetizing at all. We all thought this would be a good restaurant and fairly priced but were overall disappointed.

The good news is that this restaurant's menu boasts fine Italian wines by the glass (Amarone, Brunello, Barolo, etc.) - this was one of the things which made it unique and why we enjoyed dining here. The bad news is that they were much more generous with their pours when they first opened this restaurant. That has changed as they have now scaled back considerably on quantity, and at $18 and $19 per glass, it is outrageous that you get a tiny glass with what truly amounts to 1/2 glass of wine. It appears the stemware has even changed - now small wine glasses - presumably to give you the impression you are getting a full glass. We just dined there last night after not being back during the winter at all (as most of the restaurant is comprised of outdoor seating - not a viable option in the Chicago winters!). The Seafood Stew was good although ""sparse"" on the seafood - not what one would expect from an Italian restaurant generally known for portions! My friend had the Osso Bucco which was very average. Overall, we were very disappointed and this restaurant has dropped off of my list of favorites. Realize the economy is tight but all the more reason people should be getting value for their money when they splurge on a night out.
