Best Meal for the Price

I rank communal restaurant seating very high on the scale of annoyance. Higher than men who wear jewelry but lower than Bethenny Frankel. And yet iNG so overwhelmed me with its excellence that I would have sat cheek-to-massive-jowl with Ms. Frankel – while on a date with Mr. T..

iNG’s prices are unbelievably low. The most expensive item on the menu is the delicious shortrib at a no-brainer $24 and it’s HUGE! Think American steakhouse versus Euro-Bistro. For sure 5x the size any other item ever found on a “tasting” menu. I just don’t know how a normal eater can put down this along with 3-4 other dishes so consider yourself warned. Luckily, the gulf between “normal” and the portions I consume is fairly vast. Anyway, most other items hover around $10 but for $45, the party can sample a selection with the quite-gimmicky “tasting by the hour.” Why not just call it a four-course dinner and be done with it? Services are denominated in units of time. Goods are denominated in integers. Massage and lapdance – time. Bag of chips – integer. Dear Management: quit mucking with commonly accepted economic principles. Read other reviews. You’re only hurting yourself.

Now that the complaining is over, let us march onward to the food. But since we'll hit the char.length limit, you'll need to read it elsewhere.

Very innovative and fun Asian fusion restaurant!

From the moment you're seated all the way to the end, you'll be pleasantly surpirsed with the creativity and great food! You should definitely try a sample menu. They offer by hour. 1 hour sample menu or 2 hours. We had the 1 hour sample menu, and we were very full after that.
Food was great too. I'd definitely come back here again!

Dinner and a show in one place

You won't need to go out after dinner at moto -- and you probably won't have time anyhow! This is a dining ""experience"". Be prepared for an all-evening affair to be savored, course by course. And glass by glass, as their wine selections are worth the price. This is ""science"" food, in that nothing tastes the way it looks or the way you might expect from appearances.

This should be all about the food -- ask questions, take your time, have fun! Not a place to go often, but a great place to take guests with a foodie bent.

My favorite restaurant in chicago

My husband and I had the most AMAZING meal at Otom. I got a Groupon coupon b/c i was curious about the restaurant. The food is out of this world. Our favorites were the smoked octopus and pork belly for starters and duck for main entree. We liked it a great deal more than L2O and pain 1/5 the price. It's a must try for all foodies.

I know, the last thing I expected of this restaurant was blandness of food but I just can't say I enjoyed my first visit to this restaurant. Two appetizers ordered - Enoki Gnocchi and Grilled Octopus - the gnocchi was bland, really nothing exceptional here - when I want to salt something then there just isn't enough flavor - the octopus was better but a bit on the fishy side. Two dinners - Dorade and Veg Platter - the Dorade was tasting but his sharp little teeth goating me was a bit much even for this foodie - the fingerling potatoe with the fish - undercooked to the point of unedible - the Veg platter was okay - not anything better than okay. Also the mac and green pea spatzel - now that I could have had a bowl full of but alas it was not my dish so I at least got a taste ... Good Martini's but when I order an $10 vodka I have a hard time wondering if the two olive stuffed with blue cost me another $2 or was it because I said that magic name ""martini"" that jacked the price up to $12.00 a piece. All in all the servie was attentive but I don't really want to know about someones new tatoo and then see the bandages too. Yike - three stars now that I think about it maybe 2.

had the 10-course and almost felt obligated to get the flight since there was a limited selection otherwise (and too difficult to pair with one varietal anyway). there were a few highs and lows in the proceedings - most notably an ironically tepid onion soup broth after a long delay for that course - but that was more than rectified with an extra desert or two. some of the wine pairings were questionable, but in the end it was a unique dining experience and worth trying at least once. in particular we enjoyed the cuban sandwich cigar and the graham cracker chocolate bomb, but there were other surprises that could only be captured with a digital olympus to be believed.

Great atmosphere, attentive service and amazing food

We tried this place because our poor college student wallets were too sad to afford it's sister restaurant, MOTO (with Iron Chef America champion Chef Cantu and pastry chef protege Chef Roche). To our delight, this choice did not fall short of our excitement and expectation! The atmosphere at OTOM was fun and trendy. The food was amazing! Try the salmon cerviche and the short rib ravioli! The drinks here are great too! They were like nothing I've tasted before! There is so much careful detail paid in putting together each of the dishes here. It truly makes the difference! The presentation of everything was beautiful and the sauces and garnishes were innovative and delicious! With hints of the molecular gastronomy techniques used at MOTO, OTOM's own dishes were definitely interesting and truly one-of-a-kind!

Unfortunately, the bill came out a bit higher than we had originally intended, but the experience, food, and excellent service made the trip well-worth our money! This is one of my new favorite restaurants in the city!

Most fun we have ever had eating out, Terrific customer service

We did the ten course tasting menu and found Chef Cantu's food was excellent from beginning to end. The highlights of the night were the Wahoo, the unique take on Pork and Beans and the Apple Pie ala mode Truffles. The food was prepared using unique techniques (liquid nitrogen anyone) that meant your eyes were telling you different things than your taste buds. Overall definitely the most fun we have ever had eating out.

A true culinary visionary.

I must start by saying that I am a Chef & Culinary Instructor, so I understand the preparations, techniques, and machinery used. The skill level needed to execute this experience is nothing short of scholarly and don't think ""average diners"" get it. I saw some not so hot reviews and have to ask what they were thinking. Go to Benihanas - This is a cutting edge, gastronomic playground with all of the bells and whistles.

My experience was on par with El bulli, Alinea, and the French Laundry and yes, I have been to all three. Where they might be different in style, design, and mssion - They are some of the world's best and Chef Cantu lived up to this high level. Bravo Chef and entire staff!!!!!!!

Bravo, Moto!

My dining companion and I had a most marvelous evening as Moto's guests. The service and attentiveness of the staff was impeccable. Our GTM experience lasted nearly 5 hours, but the time passed all too quickly. The pacing was well thought out and no detail was left unattended... fresh linens , expert wine service, crisp, efficient presentation of each course accompanied by concise informative descriptions. The whole event was orchestrated like an opera, each taste and visual sensation building upon the previous. The wine pairings were genius. We both marveled at the amount of time and research that must have gone into such a body of work. Bravo to the chef and staff...we were amazed, amused, satisfied and delighted by every aspect!
