I went for dinner with my family a Saturday night. The staff was super friendly, pretty clean place and the food was decent. Like I said, the waiter was very nice but before we were able to sit, he immediately started pushing all these drinks and the most expensive dishes. We let him go in his rant and asked for coke. He offered to bring out some "extras" and proceeded to ask if we wanted guacamole. My brother in law accepted. We later found it it cost us about $8. Since a couple of people were having coke, he brought out a pitcher. He was very eager to pour the entire pitcher quickly and once it was empty, he immediately brought out another one. We were garages for both pitchers (no free refill). We ate and proceeded to pay. One of my cousin payed with cash and on the receipt (which the water saw) he asked for the change. The waiter tried to keep the change as additional tip and only returned because we asked for it. Decent food, but not worth all that.

Credit Card Fraud! Beware. I dined in in this restaurant and had a reasonable dining experience. However, I noticed later that my credit card hd been billed for a second, unauthorized charge in a large even dollar amount. I have contacted the restaurant both on the phone and in person, and am always told I have to speak to a manager. However, there is never a manager on duty (even at prime dining time on a Saturday evening!) and I have never received a phone call back, despite leaving my contact information repeatedly.
Since this happened, I've looked at the reviews on Yelp!, and wish now I had done this before I went to dine there. Apparently others have had the exact same experience. Clearly there are dishonest people working at this restaurant, and I would think twice about ever stepping foot inside.
I am disputing the fraudulent charge with my credit card company, and hope to get resolution that way, because it is clearly not going to come from the management of Mi Tierra.

I love this restaurant. It gets packed on weekend nights, and because it's near Wrigley, it's always filled after games, but the service is friendly and as swift as possible. (Sometimes there will be a delay depending on the crowd.) The food is really quite good, too, especially if you adventure past the typical burritos. The garlicky shrimp is some of the best I've had, and the carne asada is tender and full of flavor.

Mi Tierra has an excellent menu with a variety of dishes to choose from. I have not found a bad one yet. Although, the only dish they offer with pork is their tamales. I love the chicken enchiladas. They also have many margarita flavors to choose from, one of the longest lists I have ever seen.
The friendly atmosphere has a lot to offer with its helpful service and colorful, authentic decor. I would definitely recommend Mi Tierra for the family, a date, or even just mexican food. You won't find a better mexican dining experience for this price in Chicago. Don't forget to get the fried ice cream for dessert! It is delicious and enough for two.

Mi Tierra is a classic the time its been their speaks for itself the food is authentic and taste just like Grandma use to make I recommend the Queso Panela with home made flour tortillas for an appetizer, and this place is not over priced like so many Mexican places you find in Chicago today, So if your looking for a place to take the family or just looking for good food at great price this is the spot.

This Mexican restaurant on Belmont is welcoming and festive. Tile floors, colorful paper streamers and a waterfall give it a lively, casual feel. Chiles rellenos are some of the best I've tasted--plump and gooey with melted cheese, fried to a crisp golden brown. Chicken mole is a delicious dish, too with bone-in chunks of meat bathed in the sweet deep brown sauce. Mop it up with warm tortillas served on the side. The price is right and the service is friendly.
