A group of six of us went to the restaurant last Saturday evening. When we arrived, only four of us were there since the two others were running late. We told our server that we would order without the two others since we didn't know how late they would be. Then the owner of the restaurant approached us three times and said, ""So, I guess your friends aren't coming."" And one of the times, I said, ""No, they still are."" And he replied, ""Yeah. Right."" Then, the fourth time the owner came to our table, he asked us how our food was. Then, he went to the empty chair (where the person who had not yet arrived would be sitting) and looked at the chair and started talking to the chair and said, ""And how about you? Do you like the meal? You fooled me by saying you would come, didn't you?"" Then, when the check came, we asked the server to split the bill on to different credit cards. The server then began to berate my friend by saying, ""You should have told me sooner. This is very, very inconvenient for me. But, fine, I'll do it this time."" Then, he went to split up the check on our separate cards and when he returned to the table, he said, ""I just want you to know that I did it this time, but if we had been busy, there is no way I would have done this for you. It's customary for you to tell us in advance if this is what you want to do. I had to do this manually and calculate how much to put on each card. I don't have a computer to do this, you know."" Then when we told him he was being extremely rude to us he just turned around and walked away. Then, when he returned he said, ""Listen, I was just telling you that it was very inconvenient and that you should have told me sooner. I'm sorry if you misunderstood that and thought I was being rude."" First of all, I have eaten in restaurants all over the world, from New York to Paris to Tokyo to Cape Town to Marrakech and have almost NEVER experienced this type of rude and unprofessional service (I have never before had such a bad experience that I've written a review to warn people). Second of all, the server's attempt at an apology basically was him telling us that it was our fault for ""misunderstanding"" him, which is hardly an apology. Not only was the owner ruder, but the server was also rude. While the food was decent, the service soured our entire experience. Please be warned!
