Success! Thanks for posting your review of La Cantina. You’ve done the world some good today.

so quaint

What a nice quaint steakhouse for Italians or those who like Italian flair and food. They have given the restaurant a nice face lift since I was here last. New booths - lights - paint and carpet looks very very nice.\r \r The food as I remember was very good. I had the filet with a shrimp cocktail. The dessert I chose was the canoli, my friend had the tiramisu..! The waitstaff is very nice and the food is served in a... view more

confirmed reservation 3 times, they claimed we didin't

First of all, let me start off by saying I'm 17 and went to this restaurant with a few friends of mine instead of going to homecoming. Reservations were made at least a week in advance. My friend who made the reservation called the restaurant 3 times to confirm and every time La Cantina said they had our reservation. When we arrived at La Cantina they said we never made a reservation and said we would have to wait 30... view more

Fantastic Steaks and Wine list

I recently had a business lunch and my client suggested La Cantina. Definitely a different atmosphere, than most steakhouses I've been to, feel of being in a wine cellar with fish tanks everywhere. I have to say I was very impressed. We were on a tight schedule, and had reservations for 12:00 on a Friday. We were seated almost immediately and greeted by our server right away. We ordered salads and two steaks medium w... view more

Great food and steak!!

Last night we went to dinner at La Cantina, the service was outstanding. I have been to several steakhouses in the city and this places among the best. We were seated immediately and our server came to our table within minutes. He was very friendly and knowledgable and suggested an excellent merlot to go with the steaks we ordered. They came out cooked perfectly and melted in our mouths. The gorgonzola cream sauce on... view more

I love this place!!

This restaurant is a great place to go for lunch or dinner. It is in the lower level of the Italian Village, but should not be missed. The Veal parmigian is outstanding and I've also had the New York strip steak on several occasions. It always comes out the way I ask and is very tender, almost melts in my mouth. The wine list is amazing!! I can always find a good red or white wine depending what I'm having. They have... view more

Excellent Steakhouse and Extensive Wine List!!

First let me start by saying how impressed i was with the wine list. They have over 40,000 bottles in their cellar. La Cantina is one of the three restaurants of Italian Village- and it is just as good as the other two. My boyfriend and I went here for dinner a couple of weeks ago and were very impressed. We had reservations for 8 pm and were seated shortly after, which was fine, because we were finishing a bottle of... view more

Fantastic food and service!!

I cannot say enough great things about La Cantina, the steakhouse at the Italian Village. It is fantastic. Every time I go there it always impresses me that they have such an extensive wine list and they are so knowledgable on all of the wines and pairings. My husband ordered the petite filet and shrimp and I had the Cantina Ribeye, both dishes were outstanding and cooked to perfection. Our server was great, he was p... view more

Great Steakhouse!!

So I have been to both Italian Village and Vivere on several occasions so I thought I'd try out La Cantina, which is their steakhouse. I have always had great experiences at both of the other restaurants and wasn't surprised when the service here exceeded my expectations. We had reservations for 7:30 on a Saturday night, and were seated very promptly, our server greeted us right away and suggested a fantastic pinot g... view more

Worst dining experience in Chicago

My husband and I were so excited to try the Italian Village for Valentine's day, especially since Citysearch had rated it so favorably. Instead, we were completely disappointed. The food was worse than mediocre: our salads were wilted and our main courses (eggplant parmesan and seafood ravioli) were truly so disappointing that we didn't even take our leftovers home. We decided that maybe dessert would help redeem the... view more

High price, low quality.....

My girlfriend and I were excited to try an Italian Village restaurant, so we decided to go with La Cantina. (The restaurant downstairs.) Besides the fact they seat you in the hallway, (if you go you will see what I mean) the food quality and taste is much below average. The pasta was wet and cold, and the tomato sauce had no flavor. The chicken tasted like it came off of a dirty charcoal grill. I consider myself a fo... view more
