Can you go less than 1 star?

After making half a dozen calls to wedding accessories shops I thought I fount a great match. What I found was a case of split personality! Nice and helpful on the phone, looming, pushy, and suspicious in person. What I was told I'd find and what I wasn't allowed to look at or touch were two different things. After the annoying owner woman tried to force feed me (what she said I wanted - but didn't) her scary old guy sidekick just kept watching over my shoulder, I decided it was a mistake coming here, to top it off, when I left I had a $25 parking ticket for a meeter that wasn't working! Save yourself the time by NOT visiting this place.

the lie!!!

If I could give 0 stars i would. I ordered a garter online, but then my mom found her old garter, so I attempted to return it. According to the website you CAN return non-personalized items, and you will recieve a refund w/in 5 weeks. After waiting nearly 2 months without hearing ANYTHING, I finally called the shop. They told me 1) there is no refund (their website lies), however 2) a ""store credit"" was sent to me... I don't want a store credit, but even if i did, I didn't get one (again, they, lie!). They said they'd contact me again, but so far I've heard nothing (that was over 2 business days ago) (yet another lie!).

On another occasion, I also went into the store to attempt to find a head-piece. The woman wouldn't let me touch any of them or try them on... and when I did find one I thought I might like, I couldn't pick it up that day and asked if she could hold it for 24 hours (a VERY normal thing to ask for), and she said no.

These people are absolutely ridiculous, rude, and horrible to deal with. They might have a great selection, but seriously I wouldn't go there unless it were a dire emergency (like you dropped your headpiece down the gutter on the way to your wedding and needed to get a new one same day).

About the strange service at I Do I Do...

I live in the neighborhood and was recommended to I Do I Do, by a friend who also lives in the neighborhood. She bought a lot of things from this store for her wedding, but warned me about the strange service, etc.

According to one of the nearby business owners, the owner of I Do I Do (the husband) was robbed while leaving the store one night and beaten to the point he suffered brain damage. His wife manages the store. I think that is also why they have the doorbell.

I have not actually been to I Do I Do yet, but I do plan to go one of these days. If the story about the owner is true, it's really pretty sad. I would think the wife would at least be friendly with customers, but maybe they've just been through too much.

Neurotic and Rude Owner/Lots of things to look at

I visited this place last week. Immediately this 'big-boned,' tall woman looms overhead and without really looking at me in the eyes (weird!) proceeds to ""help"" me. The strange old man everyone writes about is in the back the whole time looking at us. So, she asks me what I'm looking for and maybe my description isn't good enough because she impatiently shows me three things. I don't have time to browse because she doesn't leave my side for a moment and stands really uncomfortable there and it makes me uncomfortable. A couple of times through the exchange, which feels like pulling teeth, she says something in a rude way. Throughout she is just the type of person who makes one feel rushed--you can cut the tension she brings to her store with a knife. When asked about a discount or returns"" Well, look at my sign, these are my prices!"" She is obviously socially maladjusted and I don't feel sorry for people who don't take advantage of therapy. Maybe I would have had better luck with the old man! Anyhow, go to the Left Bank if you really need something nice or if you can put up with these people--by all means have fun! :) This is the weirdest and rudest store owner I've come across in a long time.

My favorite wedding store

If you are soon to be a bride or know someone who is, I Do! I Do! Wedding Accessories is a refreshing change from most wedding stores. This quaint double storefront in the Ravenswood neighborhood is a one-stop accessory and stationery shop offering every bridal need minus the dress and shoes. First, the selection cannot be matched. The shop is stuffed to capacity and could easily be four storefronts the way traditional stores space things out. We thought it made for a really different and exciting atmosphere. Second, the prices are terrific. While there, I witnessed a bride having a complete meltdown that she had paid $150 more for her bracelet at another Chicago store. If youve shopped at bit, youll know that everything in the store is reasonably priced--just as youd hoped! Planning a wedding can be the most stressful time of your life. I Do! I Do! realizes this and makes the whole process easier with cheerful customer service. The staff is excited to help but not pushy. The owner was a wedding photographer for years and her knack for accessorizing comes from seeing thousands of weddings. Brides will have no trouble finding unique styles to finish their look. I love my Jennifer Leigh veil and my Christina Garcia convertible haircomb. (I now wear it as a necklace!) Remember to bring a photo of your dress or even the dress itself. I also had my invitations, menus and favors custom designed (without paying custom prices). Pick up your handbag, guest book and unity candle and you will be good to go.

Horrible Customer Service

Upon entering this store, I was immediately followed by an older man who acted as though he was stocking shelves and fixing the merchandise but was really there to watch me like a hawk. The store is very small and merchandise is packed into a closet size space making it quite obvious that I was being watched. Seeing as Ive never stolen a thing in my life, I was obviously offended but I can appreciate that they may have had problems in the past. I then decided to pick up a tiara that was in the clearance items to take a closer look and I was instantly scolded by the man who followed me. He said in a harsh voice that ""the tiaras are only to be handled by the salesperson and she'll be with you when she's done with the other customer"" I have never been reprimanded like that in my life. I put down the tiara and walked out of the store and the older man followed me to the door and said ""thats fine"" . No actually, it is not fine. l would not recommend this place to anyone. The mechandise is so overly priced that it is untouchable. Ive seen the same selection of merchandise at many other places that is less expensive while you can enjoy the benefits of a comfortable atmosphere and good customer service. Brides beware!!!

Worst customer service

I, too, was wary of this store based on the reviews. I went anyway - and wish I hadn't. I picked up a pair of earrings to examine more closely and was told ""please don't touch anything, we are not a browsing boutique. just put it down"". Sorry, my bad. Then, the owner began ""helping"" me. I described what I was looking for. She presented a few items, none of which really were my style. Which is fine, I don't expect to like everything. However, the owner repeatedly (maybe 20 times) said that I wasn't giving her anything to go on and she ""just can't help me"". I was chastised repatedly because I didn't know the difference between certain materials and their construction. I have never, ever been treated so poorly. I got so frustrated I threw up my hands and told the owner, you know, you are right, you can't help me. And walked out. If I could give this store a zero star rating, I would.

Poor Service, Beware of the Fine Print, Offers a little of EVERYTHING

I went to I do! I do! for wedding accessories for my recent wedding. The store offers a large variety of hair pieces and accessories however it is very overpriced. The owner (and her husband) are rude and very odd, but if you're willing to accept it, she'll help you find what you need. They only allow 14 days for returns and there are MANY things that you cannot return so BEWARE. So ask a lot of questions and be prepared for their lack of customer may also want to avoid weekends so they're less busy.

I Do I Do - So glad we did!!!

I Do I Do not only provided us with many unique items for my daughter?s special day; it provided us with a wonderful experience. We had so much fun looking in each small nook and corner to find beautiful wedding items of all kinds. The owner, Sherry, was extremely helpful as she offered advice and great ideas about the wedding day. The personalized service was wonderful, and we found her delightful. After the wedding, I know this will be one of the days that will bring back memories of laughter and fun!! This is the perfect place to find something special.

Pros and Cons

I went to the I Do I Do store with high expectations. What I found, was both good and bad. First of all, it is not the store's fault, but there was no parking! We had to circle around for a long time before we could find a spot. When we finally did get to go to the store (ringing the doorbell to get in was a little weird), we did find a lot of great stuff. Be prepared have to really be in the mood to search, because everything is thrown together, and really crowded with items. And, as a lot of the reviews stated, there is a man that follows you around and watches you closely. He is a nice man, that has good intentions, but he does stay very close by. There is a woman who owns the store who is there as well, but she is not as warm. To make it short, the store is worth going to for its unique things, but the atmosphere and customer service is less than desirable.
