*I had to revise my previous review. I had an issue with billing at Downtown Dental as a result of lack of communication, and Dr. Patel personally contacted me and refunded my ENTIRE bill. I am extremely impressed not only with the high quality dental work at Downtown Dental, but also with the level of customer service.
So the dentistry at downtown dental is no big wow....they give you the basic attention and recommendations any dentistry office will give you, just in a great location for those working/living downtown Chicago. However the customer service team at the front desk...along with the "office manager" are a complete deal breaker for me.
I've never been so utterly disrespected, disregarded, and downright disgusted by such unprofessional, candid, little girls.
I had an appointment on my day off and I had a million things to do, I had been to the office once before but I had time to waste that first visit. On my 2nd visit, I made it just in time to find a parking spot and run up to the office...or so I thought, as traffic was monstrous and parking spaces and lots were both at capacity. So I called the office to tell them 15 min before my appt time to tell them I was looking for parking. No problem they said.... at 5 min til my appt time I was still in search for a place to park, so I called again to verify that I would be able to still come in without fail. I was told sure, but they would charge me a $50 late fee, if I didn't make it up in the next 10 min. So I proceeded to look for a parking spot as I definitely didn't want to pay a $50 late fee...when my copay is only $25. I found a lot to park in 15 min after my appt time, I paid $22 to park, I called the office one more time while walking to the office to verify if I was going to be able to see the doctor. I was told that I wouldn't be able to see the doctor and that I would be charged a $50 late fee. So, I went home.
30 min later, while sitting in my living room, I get a courtesy call from the doctor I was scheduled to see. I'm told that she's still waiting on me, despite the information given to me by the front desk rep. I'm livid at this point...so I call the office to speak with the young lady who gave me poor information. Who candidly replies that she gave me the right information and that somehow the call was disconnected before she could tell me that they would still take me and furthermore that I never said I was no longer coming in.
And I'm really not sure what world she lives in...but usually when someone tells you that you wont be able to see the doctor and you'll be assessed a $50 late fee...you typically don't have an appt anymore and you carry on with your day. As for the call, she said what she had to say... and I replied a very flustered "...okay, thanks anyways" she said nothing further and I ended the call. Had there been any other information, it was her job to have called me back to give me that information. As she wasn't mid-sentence or in any sentence that would've led to another sentence when "the call disconnected".
I am told that my appt will be rescheduled for a month down the line and that at that time I will be able to speak with the doctor about crediting the late fee. I agree. At my 3rd appt, my dental service is all that I expect. I proceed to pay my bill for the service I have received. I have definitely been assessed a $50 late fee. I ask to speak with the doctor. Suddenly the head doctor isn't in the office but I can speak to the office manager....ok, I guess that'll do. I calmly tell the woman about the situation, which she is highly aware of already, she tells me candidly that she will not waive the fee, along with hand motions, a shake of her neck, wide eyes, and pursed lips...all attitude that was not requested. I am again livid, because I don't see why on this dear earth this fee would not be credited or why her attitude is such. I am not a happy camper, the manager refuses to budge without even the slightest consideration of the mistakes of the front desk rep. So I am charged a $50 fee, I'm reluctant to pay it...but nevertheless I do.
and I officially write this office off altogether.

Downtown Dental is fabulous! The office is bright & cheery, and the entire staff is so friendly. I had been procrastinating getting some major dental work done, until it got to the point that it was an urgent necessity. From the moment I walked-in (as a new client), everyone put me at ease. Jaime, my hygienist, was great - friendly, and very easy to talk to. Dr. Patel is absolutely amazing! Friendly, very funny, and straight forward. He explained, in detail, exactly what he was doing, and what I would experience. He assured me that I would feel no pain whatsoever, and as skeptical as I was, he was right! I am thrilled with Downtown Dental, and will continue to use them for all of my dental needs.

Downtown Dental is a great dental office all around. I was a new patient and had a cleaning done this week. From the moment you walk in you know your in good hands. The office is bright, clean, and new with a convenient downtown location- right next to my office. During the cleaning, I got to look out the window at the skyline, another perk! My hygienist Barb was also great. She was easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable.
Dr. Patel is wonderful too. He has a friendly personality and is very funny. Its nice to go somewhere that you know their only concern is to satisfy you and make recommendations to improve your smile. I was a little nervous going to a new dentist (I moved here recently), but Dr. Patel exceeded my expectations. If your looking for a new dentist, I'd definately recommend Downtown Dental. Also, the exam and x-rays only cost $1- can't beat that!

Dr. Patel is an excellent dentist. He is patient and thorough explaining his procedures. His office is convenient, top quality equipment, and has just been recently remolded/redecorated. He has all the latest in the dental profession, and prides himself with keeping intouch and on top of all new and innovative procedures in denistry. He is open to any constructive criticism you may have regarding his office and staff.
I have just finished my session with invisaline and couldn't be happier. If you are looking for a dentist in the downtown area this is your guy!

Dr. Patel and his staff are nothing but friendly and knowledgable. The office is warm and welcoming, and it made my experience a lot more comfortable.
The dental hygienist, Monica and Jamie are just as great, they were very relatable and through the small conversations throughout the cleaning made time go by so much faster. They are well aware that their patients are also on a schedule, and the cleanings are done in an efficient manner.
Dr. Patel is great, he doesn’t waste any time and gets straight to the point. He has an easy-going personality which made it easier for me to ask all my questions. He laid out all my options on the table and went over the pros and cons of everything. He also made sure that I understood all my options by including insurance and out-of-pocket costs.
Overall, I would recommend Downtown Dental to anyone who needs a clean up whether they go to the dentist regularly or needs to find someone they can trust for the first time (especially if your are a wreck before going to the dentist like me). I have been going to his office for the last 7 years, and have seen his office grow tremendously. I am a loyal patient and will continue to be because Dr. Patel and his staff know exactly how to make me happy.

I've always been somewhat of a dental patient gypsie - trying a new place on for size every so often, but never fully committing to one. Then, about a year and a half ago, I found Dr. Patel at Downtown Dental. I had researched several dentists, including this office, and found that I had nothing to lose. In fact, I had much to gain. I came to this office for Invisalign treatment, which was the best decision I could've made for myself. I am thoroughly satisfied with Dr. Patel and his staff. I should mention that his office has grown two-fold (they expanded/remodeled twice since I started coming here), and this is surely a testament to Dr. Patel's good work. Dr. Patel is extremely knowledgable, thorough, friendly and personable. I never leave his chair with an unanswered question or concern. I should also mention that with my Invisalign, I had a canine that essentially needed to be rotated and, although Dr. Patel was skeptical, through my insistance he agreed to try to turn the canine on a second round of Invisalign. Lo and behold, it has now turned! Have I mentioned this guy is good? I'm actually torn as I write this review, because I know that Dr. Patel will only get busier and busier and, although I'd like to keep ""my"" dentist a secret, I know I must spread the good word to the masses. Bottom line is that this dentist is a keeper.

I've been going to Downtown Dental for a few years now. From my very first appointment I knew I had made the right choice in switching from my other dentist. Since I started visiting Dr. Patel the office and staff has grown exponentially.
Dr. Patel has both an Endodontist and Periodontist on staff so you don't have to make appointments elsewhere when you need root canals or gum surgery performed. You can have everything done right in this office which is a huge convenience.
I've seen everyone at Downtown Dental because I didn't walk in with the best of teeth health but the care and professionalism I have received from the staff has been top notch.
One weekend I was having horrible pain in my head that sent me to the hospital. The hospital couldn't figure out what the problem was. The next day, on a Sunday, I called Dr. Patel and told him about the pain and that I thought it might be a tooth and he confirmed that that sounded correct. He called in a prescription to the pharmacy for me to help with the pain and he made an emergency appointment with Dr. Davenport, the awesome Endodontist, on the next available day for a root canal. Dr. Davenport worked effortlessly to make sure that my root canal was done with the least amount of pain and in the quickest amount of time. My tooth is cured.
I've also had gum surgery that was performed by Dr. Kim at Downtown Dental. She is the periodontist on staff. She was quick, efficient and informative. She told me everything that she was doing during the procedure and let me know what the best options would be before the procedure.
Monicah is my hygienist and she is absolutely amazing. She was the first person I saw at Downtown Dental and she is the friendliest person you would ever want to meet. She also does a great job when cleaning teeth and she takes care to answer any questions you may have.
Dr. Patel is of course my favorite. He's the one I see the most. From the onset of me becoming a patient he sat me down and we went over what my dental plan would be. He was careful to let me know both the best and worst case scenarios and what insurance would cover and what I would have to pay out of pocket. Dr. Patel did not make me feel embarrassed or ashamed but instead he let me know that it wasn't too late and we could fix this. He doesn't recommend things if they don't need to be done but he is straightforward about what you do have to do. He even came in for an appointment I had when his daughter was in the hospital. I would have never asked him to do that but that is what I call dedication. I never liked going to the dentist but I don't mind going to see Dr. Patel.
One last shout out is to the receptionists. These guys are great. They recognize me every time I come in and make sure that I am seen on time. They call me every time to remind me of appointments. They always greet me with a smile.
Dr. Patel has a new dentist on staff as well to help accommodate some of the new patients he is getting in. I don't know her name but I've heard good things about her from friends that I've referred to Downtown Dental.
In short: my dentist is awesome, his staff is awesome and you would be crazy not to come here.

I just love this office! I stumbled up on Dr. Patel about 3 years ago, and have been going back ever since. Jamie is my hygenist and she is super sweet and very knowledgable. They always do the best to help you find ways to keep you ""out"" of their office outside of the checkups. Dr. Patel fitted me for a mouth guard for my grinding, and also floridex tooth paste to help with my wearing enamel. He is incredibly personable and thorough. I highly recommend them!

They explain the procedures and costs thoroughly so there are no surprises. Dr. Patel takes pride in his work and does very fine dentistry from simple cleanings to recreating tooth surfaces so they feel completely natural.
