These cupcakes were too pricey, too dry, too small , great frosting, ok. flavor.
When I finally found parking and entered this adorable little shop I was a little disapointed to see that for $3 a pop, these cupcakes were on the smaller side, but nonetheless I was not going to leave with trying at least 3 different flavors. The first one I tried was the Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting, I must admit that it was a beautiful looking cupcake and that was all it had to offer, good looks. I'm huge fan of this southern classic, but I was dissapointed in the flavor and even more so that it was dry. I hate to say the only thing that I liked was the cream cheese frosting. Next, I tried the Vanilla with buttercream frosting, once again the frosting was amazing, not too sweet, it was so smooth and buttery, just delicious, other than that nothing outstanding about the subtle vanilla flavor. The cupcake crumbled it was so dry. The last flavor I tried was the one that made me drive all the way from Jefferson Park out to this part of town..Mexican hot Chocolate... It was a spicy chocolate cupcake, the flavor was the best of the three that I tried but it was also the driest, I had to chug a bottle of water, just to get it down. It sounded so amazing...When I put that cupcake in my mouth I was expecting fireworks...but no! I was expecting the city's best cupcakes, instead what I got was and over priced, small and very dry cupcake. Needless to say I will not be returning to this little shop no matter how cute it is or how good the frosting is.
