Established more than 65 years ago, the Cook County Board of Review is responsible for ensuring fair property taxes are assessed throughout Cook County, Ill. It does this through listening to and ruling on appeals made by taxpayers that wish for property tax relief. The board is endowed with the power to revise, correct, change, alter, modify and confirm any assessment in whole or in part. It offers services to owners of residential, commercial and industrial properties, as well as vacant land. The Cook County Board of Review is a division of the county government. The board is headquartered in Chicago.
