These guys found me an apartment in 2 days and after only looking at 3 places. I am very impressed with their service and my new apartment. To bad they recomended a shady moving company for my move in. Had they just stayed out of it they would have gotten 5 stars. Use the apartment people, do not use STI movers from Skokie, IL

Its a free service! Where else can you have someone drive you around to see apartments? Maybe they don't have every apartment in the city , but we saw a bunch of stuff that was good and the agent offered helpful opinions. He was not out to rip me off. So give it a try, it beats craigslist.

I remember going to a job interview here in 2006 and the dude interviewing me rubbed his crotch up against my hand. The job was a freelance photographer gig and I was showing him my portfolio. I was 24, naïve, and had no idea what was going on as he kept leaning forward and brushing that area against my hand, which was using the mouse to click through a PDF. Classy place.

I am a condo owner and I have used apartment people several times to list my unit. I cannot list and show it myself because I live in another city. Although my place is high end, they seem to find qualified tenants who pay the rent. I always insist on a full credit review and background check. One piece of advice I have for renters is to use them on any day other than a weekend day. I used to live in the neighborhood and see that place overflowing on Saturday with 20 something people who waited until the last minute to look for an apartment. You have to understand that just like any real estate company the agents work on commission. They only get paid if you rent a place, and that is incentive to show you places that meet your criteria. This is a great service for out of town professionals relocating.
At the same time I used this company to search for an apartment, my landlord also used them to rent my apartment. First, they do not listen to what you want and they try to push you out of your price range by acting like a couple hundred dollars more a month is not a big deal. The agent actually told me that I didn't want to live in Bucktown and I would like wrigleyville better, when I have been living in Chicago for 3 years and am very familiar with the neighborhoods. While showing my apartment for my landlord, they were told to call before ever showing the apartment, as I have a dog who has the run of the house and doesn't like strangers. Twice when they called I missed the call and called them back and they said they had already gone in to my apartment anyway. After I told one agent I was upset about this, he was very rude and told me "it doesn't matter because I already gave you notice". This was despite the fact that they were explicitly told not to come in without calling me first to make sure my dog was not loose. This is all around the worst apartment service I have ever used. I then used the Apartment Finders and they were great, even picking me up on my lunch break to look at places. I ended up finding a great apartment on Craigslist. I would suggest using either of those before ever going to the Apartment People.

I was really pleased with the service I received at the Apartment People. After experiencing a few terrible appointments with other agencies, the people here were a nice surprise. Though the office is very busy, my agent Alex took the time to help me find exactly the kind of apartment I needed. I spent three separate appointments looking for apartments and he greeted me with the same great energy each time. The managers here were just as helpful, after my first appointment one of them gave me a call letting me know that they were happy to help me again as soon as I was ready. The application processing fee is kind of expensive, $50, but completely worth it now that I have my apartment. I would suggest this company to anyone else looking for an apartment who is new to the city.

The worst experience I have ever had with a real estate agency. After being completely dissatisfied with our first agent, we were pressured to sign on an apartment with a second agent. By mistake of the Apartment people, AFTER they cashed our checks the apartment fell through. Even the manager was un-helpful with the situation and ended up not returning our phone calls. You know a company is bad when the manager is even ignoring their costumers. Do not waste you time here

I arrived at my appointment time and found a room full of early twenty-somethings also waiting to see apartments. Their target client seems to be the college student or recent graduate. The staff was nice but also young and clearly overwhelmed by the swarm of clients fast losing patience. They ordered pizza and popped in a Best of Saturday Night live video to appease the crowd. I waited 45 minutes, ate their pizza, and left without seeing any apartments.
