The Carlton Inn was perfect for our overnight stay. We needed a pet friendly hotel near Midway for the night before our flight. Somewhere that would accommodate us and our 2 small dogs (Maltese). The room was very very comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff were consistently wonderful. I've travelled the globe extensively on business and can honestly say that all of the the staff we interacted with at the Carlton were as friendly, helpful and accommodating as any 5 star hotel I've stayed in. The Carlton is a 2-star hotel, but the room was very clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was a surprise because, though simple was quite varied and good. We took the shuttle to Midway. We had 5 suitcases plus the 2 dogs and their in-cabin carriers. The driver picked us up outside our room and was helpful with the bags. The Carlton was perfect for our needs and perfect for our night before our flight.

The room was pretty good. The parking situation was awful. The parking is really off site about 2 blocks away. There are 2 ways to get to the parking, down a weird and scary alley way with a few clubs or walk around 2 blocks away. Needless to say it was a bit cold and we were freezing along with my small daughter. If you have kids do not stay here...it is club city outside the hotel and loud club goers who stay in the hotel. This hotel is a definite place to stay if you want to party downtown but not for relaxing with family. The front desk personnel and valet personnel were pretty friendly. Valet parking should be free here but it is 62.00. If I had stayed alone with my daughter I would have been forced to pay for valet parking because there is no way I would have walked that far to park and walk back alone from the parking to the hotel. Very loud....so loud the room has a little sign by the bed with free earplugs.
The service here was great. They didnt remember my name, but they still took care of everything. Upon checking in, the person at the registration desk gave us a tray with hot cloths and an orchid. Nice touch after the trip here. The nespresso machine in the room was nice, and they would bring more coffee and creamer as needed. The lights did not turn on as we entered the room, but that is not an American thing, so I can't really count that against the hotel. The doorman, Jamie, was wonderful help with restaurant tips and how to get from here to there. He even got a different cab for us when one driver was obnoxious. I wouldn't think of getting another cab. Jamie was great. I also had a massage here and it was wonderful, pricey, but good. part of the Trump ambience. Staying here was on my 'bucket list' and it was worth it.
