This place is amazing! This is "the Harvard of bartending schools." My mom and I took this class together and although she didn't get to finish due to a bit of a health scare, she LOVED the class and plans on taking it again in the future to get started in a bartending career of her own. If you're serious about wanting to become a bartender, then take their 2 week course. I looked at quite a few other bartending schools before settling on Alist and there is such a difference. The other bartending schools just want to teach you recipes and how to make "10 drinks in 10 minutes" and unfortunately they don't really seem to care about anything other than getting your money. Alist teaches so much more than that and Greg and Anthony seem to be genuinely interested in sending superior bartenders out into the world. Don't get me wrong, you still need to know stuff like your recipes and the difference between a tall glass and pint glass and they won't go easy on you about that stuff, but you also learn cash-handling, customer service, how to bartend in high volume situations, how to NOT SPILL, and a whole lot more. I'm already looking for bartending jobs after this class and I know for a fact that I would not have had the confidence to go out and do that before taking the class. On a side note, I especially want to encourage you to take this class if you're a woman because we need more kickass female bartenders out there and this class will help you get there if you really want it.

This film center is truly an honor to the late Gene Siskel. It's beautiful inside and plays movies that you may not be able to find anywhere else, especially foreign, independent, art-house, and documentaries. I especially like how they have different themes each month, that focus on films from a particular director, country, region, subject matter, genre, etc. They obviously put a great amount of love and passion into the selection, rather than just slapping together a bunch of films. The atmosphere is great too; more upscale that the average theater, but not stuffy or snobby, and ticket prices are very reasonable. It's just a great place for people who love film to gather together.
I would HIGHLY recommend this bartending school!!!!! I just graduated on Friday and received a call from the school offering me a job to bartend today. Dave and Angela are amazing teachers! The atmosphere is great! They teach you not only the skills to bartend but help you be the best bartender you can be from interpersonal skills, to being efficient, to you name it. This school has helped me tremendously and I appreciate all they have taught me! This is the best bartending school out in Chicago! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to be an Elite bartender and make alot of money and not just someone who wants to take the easy way out to make a few extra dollars.
