They got rid of the buffet, the food is over priced garbage

Update: We also got food poisoning from the banana pudding being soured. They refunded the desert though.

I wanted to give you some feed...

I wanted to give you some feedback about our experience on 5/08/11 at the Mother's Day Brunch at the Broad Street Grille inside the Chattanoogan Hotel.

We had a reservation for 3 for the 3:30 time slot. Despite the fact most tables were empty and had been bussed my daughters and I were seated at the furthest table by the kitchen entrance in full view of an adjoining room where staff was busy noisily stacking chairs and cleaning. We asked if at least the glass sliding door could be closed which staff readily did. Our waiter, a middle-aged male, answered my question to what drinks were offered by stating, "Well, what do you want?" .He then begrudgingly explained Mimosas were included with the brunch. When my daughter made the reservations she had been concerned about the late time slot but had been assured the food would be continually refreshed. By the time we walked up to the buffet, we could see almost empty bowl of salads, platters with left over cakes and cheeses, a thoroughly picked over Salmon and a almost empty vat of shrimp swimming in the melted ice water. Unsupervised children were monopolizing the chocolate fountain dipping their fruit in. Serving utensils were crusted over with dried on food from the past hours. Staff was friendly but stood mostly in the back together in groups laughing and talking amongst themselves. We ended up eating some breakfast foods and a few cookies for our 32.00 a person brunch. The Mimosas were mixed incorrectly and we did not drink them. There never was an offer for coffee from our waiter. As we walked out shortly after 4:00 pm the staff was already cleaning off even though there were still people seated and eating.

All in all this was one of the most disappointing eating experience and spoiled our day. It was a huge waste of our money.

I hope this prevents this to happen to other customers.

Consider Fasting Instead....

Wow, what a disaster of an evening at the Broad Street Grille. This was our first and last visit, I highly suggest fasting instead. We had a 9pm reservation that the hostess couldn't find. Not that it should have mattered, the restaurant was half empty. She mysteriously left for 10 minutes and reappeared and seated us. It took another 25 minutes for our waiter to take our order. He was a nice lad but that is the only positive thing I can say about the restaurant.

We took his recommendation and ordered the Rib Eye, medium rare. It came back well done as was the filet someone else at our table ordered. It took so long to order and get the food, (and so many others were complaining ) we decided to suck it up and just eat it. rather than send it back We also ordered the Salmon stuffed with Thai shell fish. What a disappointment! Dry and over cooked, it could have been cooked the day before and just microwaved. Even the shredded green topping was charred.

I thought for sure the restaurant would perhaps comp the meal....but it was not be. A gentleman at a nearby table brought us over a coupon which I quickly used toward our bill of more than $30 per person.

While the place has some ambiance, they need to keep people from using a secondary door on Broad Street. Every time the door opened, everyone at our table was uncomfortable. Several 'walk ins' came in and just stood there waiting for someone to greet them until we guided them back to the hostess area.

I only saw 5 employees the entire evening and that included 2 chefs. The place desperately needs some trained chefs and some on site management!
