        Lack of respect

        My family chose the Cremation Society of Virginia for my father's cremation. I called the office and was promised a return phone call from one of the cremation directors and never heard back. It wasn't until we called three times and visited the office that we got some type of assistance. When my father passed it took two and a half hours for them to pick his body up, despite their claim to pick up the deceased with 90 minutes. The cremation was scheduled almost two weeks after his death. The day he was cremated the representative from the Cremation Society explained that the ashes would be available for pick up the next day, Friday. We told the representative that we would pick up the ashes when they opened Monday morning. On Monday we called and they said the ashes were not at the facility yet but that they would be available by 1030am. We arrived slightly early (1015) so that we could order some thumbprint jewelry. The woman told us that she was with another family and that she would be a few minutes. An hour later she finally brought us back. She wrote down a description of what we wanted to purchase and went to the back office to calculate out totals. After waiting a significant amount of time I walked to the lobby to try to see what the hold up was. I found her assisting a family that had just arrived. I was furious as to why we were made to wait when she had a family before us but chose to make us wait for another family who had just arrived. After the death of a family member it is a shame that we have to deal with such a lack of common courtesy and respect.
