I have been getting tattoo'd for 8 years and stuck with the same person for my first 6 until I moved out of state from Maine to North Carolina. I love my artist back home so much that I was very hesitant to go anywhere else. I was getting the itch to get another tattoo so I started to ask around, two people I worked with 3 years ago went to a place in Mooresville and their tattoos were really good so I checked out the guy they went to. He was really good and I felt comfortable with him, he took his work seriously and was very much a perfectionist, I went to him twice and got 3 tattoos. Then I found out he was a creep and was soliciting things from girls when they were alone in his room with him, I was never gonna go back there again but I was stuck, where would I go now? I asked around again and no one could give me a decent name so I researched for myself. I live in Salisbury and I looked at places within 2 hours of here because a good artist is worth the travel. I found Nikki's Tattoo Studio. I was so impressed with what I saw on her website that I called and asked when I could drive the hour down there just to show her some of the ideas I had. I had not planned on making any appointments or even deciding yes or no for sure whether I liked the place, I wanted to be sure it was the right place for me. I am looking for a keeper!! Well that day I found it. Nikki is not only spunky but she is AWESOME at what she does, she makes you feel comfortable and she is cool as hell. I am so not a "girls girl" but I love that the place is run by women. Nikki is very professional and she really knows her stuff. I went home so excited and impressed with everything I saw I called the next day and made an appointment for a week later. It is so convenient that I can make the appointment over the internet and can do all the paperwork from home and pay over the phone. I got my tattoo and not only was the work so incredible but the cost was so much less than I would have expected. I am so proud of my tattoo and can't wait for the summer to show it off to everyone. I recommend that everyone go see Nikki, she truly is amazing.
I called about if the shop ran specials on/participated in doing Friday the 13th tattoos, and instead of scoffing and getting an attitude like most of the shops I'd called, Derreck (the shop manager) simply asked what the promo was and (POLITELY) told me their shop did not. About an hour later I called back and made an appointment with Derreck for a regular tattoo, even though that wasn't my original plan. I was so impressed by the politeness and GREAT attitude, over the phone where he honestly had no 'motive' to be so courteous. A friendly, great attitude is an unfortunately RARE find in the world of tattoo shops. I go to another shop in town but had recently started "shopping" after finally being fed up with catching rude attitudes and having to explain what I was after OVER and over again instead of just doing what I was wanting in the first place. The tattoo is going on MY body forever, if I'm not asking for your artistic tweaks and input, then either do what I ask or politely decline, DON'T waste my time redoing and redoing and REFUSING to do what I ask. It's incredibly frustrating and honestly really exhausting, and mind you, I've gone to this other shop since 2008, and even though I've spent $1000s there and a ridiculous about of time with MULTIPLE artists, all but ONE of the artists have horrid "listening ears" and even worse attitudes. (And, go figure, the one great guy there is leaving...) So I will most definitely be returning to Derreck and Crown Tattoos, the work he did was FANTASTIC and JUST what I was after. He was very professional, has over 20 years of experience and had an absolutely stellar work ethic, He even touched up a few of the other tattoos that I had been neglecting to go back to my other shop to do. I really can't say enough about what a night and day difference it was, DEFINITELY check them out, prices are great as well as the work, it'll all right on!!
Awesome is one word you can use when describing Cosmic Tattoos... a few other words would be friendly, professional, You are greeted with a warm welcome when you arrive at the studio. Emily is a true professional tattoo artist .. her art work is about the best I have seen in a very long time, the type of work you see in Tattoo Magazine. Emily is doing a wild life sleeve down my entire right arm. Most of the outline has been done and it looks great just outlined, it should look awesome when finished. She has a hard job because its covering many mistakes of other artists from other shops, that tried and failed to do a professional sleeve. Emily is a true artist!! You won't get to see the great work she is doing for me.. cause I am not the type of person that will grace the pages of Tattoo Magazine or Flash ... not one of the pretty ones. lol But trust my word... she is an awesome artist and the shop is fantastic. I have many tattoos so I do know what I am talking about when it comes to tattoo studios and artists... you have to try this tattoo studio its the best!! (AKA Steve)
