I live so close to this Whole Foods and we waited and waited for into open. I go all the time and I will continue to go. W really do love many things about it, however there are some small things worth mentioning.... There have been some times that I have left WF disappointed with the overall quality of the food.... I have been fortunate to only deal with kind employees at this WF, however the quality of the food (also salad bar) depends on the employees. W spend a lot of money there, we meaning ALL of us. In my opinion, they should be serving only the freshest foods. I went today and every fresh basil packet was molded. I was so disappointed as my recipe for tonight's dinner calls for fresh basil. Last week I went there for a bag of spinach and there was none... Second time this has happened. Harris Teeter never runs out of spinach! Also, on occasion, the salad bar has been disappointing. Once there was no protein on the salad bar.... No chicken, turkey, nothing. Often the greens are withered. Anyway, I'm hoping an employee reads this review and does something about it. Like I said, I'll continue to go back bc it's so convenient to my house, but often times it leaves me dissatisfied and 80$ (or more) poorer...not that I'm complaining about their prices... We all know its an expensive supermarket.
It's a grocery store with a lot of personality and more than just food! They have a really nice buffet type of restaurant within the store. You can eat inside or on the patio. The food is a little different, organic and healthier food like tofu and non hormone chicken, so some people may be off-put at first, but the food is really tastey and wonderful! Their bakery is out of this world! Who knew eating healthy could be so delicious! There is also a well-ness, drug store kind of section. So if you are looking for organic cosmetics, soaps, aromatherapy, homeopathic medicine, etc. this is the place to look! Huge section devoted to wine and cheese. I think that they have tasting of both, though I have never taken part. They also have wellness classes in a room off to the side of the restaurant. The employees are always friendly and willing to give advice on products.
Excellent selection of well-priced fresh veggies not always found in local groceries and good choice of canned foods. BUT the store is (charitably) not clean. The fresh meats have no USDA grading and many pkgs are not well-wrapped and many have ice crystals. The fresh meat display counter has a low sanitation rating. Once, at the check out counter, some of my change fell into the moving counter mechanism. The manager tried digging underneath where so much built up filth emerged it was disgusting. The only things I buy there are fresh veggies that can be well-washed and some canned Goya items unavailable elsewhere. I'd never buy their meat or any bulk items.
