We are outraged at the service with this office. We were there Monday because we did had not received our SS benefit check. Go back next day to find out they had not given us the correct papers.Had to go home , and fill them out. We were told to come back with the paper work, and we would not have to wait. Supposedly we had a 1:30 appointment two days later and we not have to wait. Went back again and we repeatedly telling the armed guard, we had an appointment. Four and half hours later when they were about to close, "Wow" they discovered our paper work and we would receive our direct deposit. As of today it has not arrived. We are living on nothing because of this delay. Bills have to paid and we will be getting late charges No wonder the Government is in the position it is in. How do these incompetent people get their jobs. I simply can not believe that our check has still not arrived at the bank. By the way, why do we need two armed guards for that office. I thought the place was under siege. What a ridiculous waste of tax payers money. They forget they work for us. If I could I would fire all of them and get some people with brains. I simply can not believe the insufficiency of this office.

I did not expect special treatment but I did expect a degree of professionalism, sadly I must report that neither was in the offing. I felt as if my request was an imposition on the female employee' s time.
What ever happened to Customer Service? The Customer is after all, the reason they are in that position.
I can understand how stressful the job might be,but transferring that stress to the customer is not the preferred method.
On 10 Dec 2012 I visited the Charlotte Office to seek help with the W.E.P , specifically.
The Clerk was not helpful and I got the distinct impression that she really did not know what to do, she made a copy of the letter I received from the deutsche-rentenversicherung -bund.de for forwarding to a district office and returned the original to me. I have not received any notice of receipt from the "district Office" ,I really doubt anything was done by that employee. Her conduct was unacceptable and should not be tolerated.

I have never witnessed such blatant disdain for the elderly in my community as I have this afternoon at the Charlotte Social Security office.

My father is 86 years old and is barely able to walk with a cane. Understandably, he cannot walk or stand for extended periods of time. He was forced to sit on the stairs while his caregivers (myself and my mother) were asked to wait outside or we would be "thrown out". Those words used verbatim by the security officer. What made this so difficult to process is that each cubicle inside the office had 2-3 chairs and none of them were being used by anyone during our 3 hour visit.

It's bad enough a 3 hr personal visit was required for an address change but to have no accessible measures in place for the elderly/handicapped is ridiculous. We were told a personal visit was mandatory.

I expect more from my government and more from my community. The only thing that made this visit bearable was that dad didn't complain. He is such a good hearted man.

God bless america.

Worked for the gov't half of my life. Private the other half. Never have seen such slow non caring people. Glad I have started the process a year early. It looks like it will take that long.

I just got off the phone with ...

I just got off the phone with SS Office in Maryland 800-772-1213, and I must say the CSR that answered the phone was very pleasant and kind. She took my information, verified the information and completed my request in a very kind and respectful way. I have heard lots of negative remarks about the Social Security office here in Charlotte, NC that I decided to use the 800 #. I might add that the hold time was rather long...15 mins or more. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience. Thank you very much!

I had to wait forever which was expected... But I did not expect the lady behind the window to chit chat with her friend the whole time. It was so rude. I felt like MY questions were interrupting HER unprofessional conversation which was actually gossip. I'll definitely go elsewhere next time.

Customer (GHETTO) Service??

Like the other two reviews, calling the 18007721213 number is hopeless. Unlike them I have gotten through but it all depend on the csr you get on the other end. The ones I have gotten was terrible with the attitudes, service and everything. Now if you live in charlotte nc and have been inside the office located on Albemarle road, you are in for a treat. Like I said in the beginning it all depends on the person on the other end who is willing to help you faithfully. As for those women who work at that albemarle road facility is ghetto fabulous. It doesn't matter what race or nationality you come from. At least come to work with personality and business on your minds. Most of the women do not who work here. When I went, I was shifted from person to person. Eventually when I ended up in the back to talk to someone else, I was treated like a customer stuck on stupid. I know there may be people running scams but myself isn't one of them. In the past, this SSA facility told me to bring documents that could help me further for what I was looking for. When I did that, it wasn't good enough still. Do you know what is even crazier? These women at SSA told me that I should be happy that I got waited on with the info I had(that they told me to get)because they really didn't have to wait on me at all. What kind od words is that to be saying to someone who came a long way to this facility hoping to find some closure with personal issues and get talked to this way? I heard people elsewhere in another part of the bldg talking of how the SSA treated them badly as well. I am a firm believer of "It is not what you say but how you say it". All of those GHETTO-fabulous women behind the SSA counter on Albemarle road, Charlotte NC, need to retake their training lessons for customer service as well as personality adjustments. People out there who is reading this review, be ready when you go here to this facility. If you ask me personally for someone who has been quite a few times too much, I would go to another SSA facility for better customer service because Albemarle road isn't it!!!!

When you call this number you never get to talk to anyone. You are passed onto the 1-800-772-1213 National Number. They tell you they are unable to answer the phone due to lack of personnel to answer the telephones and take care of walk-in customers! That is pretty bad for the Local Social Security Administration!!! i'V TRIED THIS NUMBER FOR 17 TIMES OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS! Governement at it's finest!
