Don't be side tracked by the stars, locks, and safety- what goes on inside is less than appropriate and the state has been called numerous times on this establishment. 1st- they can't keep their teachers because they are so poorly paid and mistreated. There is so much turnover you can't keep your child's teachers names straight. 2) they have no way to monitor the nurseries temperatures... numerous babies have had severe eczema because of how dry and HOT (I'm talking over 78 degrees) the room is and they said theres no way for them to control nor know what the temp is in the room because they have no thermometer in the rooms! (Newborns should be in room temp from 65-72). 3) when there aren't enough babies in the older kid nurseries for a teacher in the morning or afternoon they bring the older babies in the infant room subjecting the babies that are 6 months and less to bacteria and infectious diseases. This is a serious concern when babies that are that young haven't had all their vaccines. This caused an epidemic where 4 newborns were out for weeks because they caught RSV/Bronchiolitis. By the way.. the owner patrols review sites and takes down any negative reviews so you always see that they have 5 stars elsewhere... not cool. Parents BEWARE
By far the best kept and best run day care centers in Charlotte. I have never seen another like it. rated 5 stars under the most stringent testing scale in the country used by North Carolina. All that and the fees are not the highest either. Great value, Great company!
Shining Stars has been a wonderful place for us. Both of my boys go there and they both love their teachers and staff there. From the moment we visited we loved it and knew it was the place for us. I always know my kids are in great hands when I leave there and they come home happy and always have great stories to tell me about their day. The teachers really care about them and even as my oldest son moves to other classrooms, his old teachers still visit with him and see him in the halls or on the playground and interact with him. They really do care about the kids!
I would recommend Shining Stars Academy @ Ballantyne to anyone. Our son has been enrolled for about 10 months and we could not be happier with our childcare choice. Myra has truly instilled the value of care and kindness in her staff. We are greeted with a warm hello everyday. We are given updates at the end of each day on how our son's day went. The staff genuinely cares and that has made all the difference. We are grateful for Shining Stars Academy @ Ballantyne!!
My son has been enrolled at Shining Star Academy for 2 1/2 years and I have been very impressed with what my son has learned and the activities he has been part of. He's learned how to write his name legible, he's learned how to count, Spanish and mostly he learned how to read. I actually posted videos on Facebook with him reading. His Spanish is getting much better because the Spanish teacher really ensure the kids understand what they are saying and she is very patient with the kids. I really love the teachers that he has had over the years because they exude joy and happiness in being with the kids and teaching them all they know and not only teaching them but learning about each child’s likes/dislikes and struggles. The teacher and the faculty really get involved with the kids to learn each one individual. Another thing I like about Shining Star is the owner is always involved and you don't find that often at many daycares.
I give Shining Stars Academy -Ballantyne a 5 star rating. My daughter who is 3 years old has been attending the facility for almost a year. She absolutely loves it and so do we. She looks forward to going to school. We have had amazing teachers, the technology and curriculum is great. She has learned a lot. Our daughter also attends extra activities such as music, gymnastics, and soccer, which are all offered at the facility. That is very convenient and a great bonus. She looks forward to those days. I would highly recommend Shining Stars Academy.
I love it! We love it! Our son has learned a lot from his great teacher, plus the entire staff has a very good rapport with him. We have positive interactions with the front desk staff, the owners, the floating teachers, and the food staff. In addition to regular activities in class, they also provide entertainment in the gym- frequent visits by a party DJ, music teacher, gymnastics, and a place to play when the weather is bad. The location is fabulous and the facility is the best I've seen. All the toys are new and in great condition. The food always smells good and looks good. They are very accommodating of our schedule, they show a real interest in our son’s wellbeing, and frequently ask about our daughter who was a former student. We frequently recommend Shining Stars to other parents.

All this daycare cares about is money. Their vision about a caring and loving environment is not true. At the beginning when new owners took over we thought things were going to change for the better, but they did for the worse, they changed the fa?ade only, they changed the floors, walls, things that are not as important as having good loving teachers and directors. All they cared for was getting the 5 star rating, so they started hiring anyone who had a degree but not necessarily a passion for caring and nurturing a child?s live. This center has new teachers every month, teachers leave in the middle of the school year. Incidents between kids are handle poorly, very poorly. Teachers and directors punish kids for no reason, because they do not know your kids. They go by what one kid or another kid said, adults do not use common sense or righteous judgment afraid of losing parents money. They make you sign papers so you don?t sue them. They even offered a family money so they would not take them to court. Owner?s son gets away when misbehaves. There are No planned activities for after scholars. But Mayra and Vic take your money anyway to keep them. These people are making money out of parents that think are leaving their kids in good hands. But you will have a teacher that knows nothing about your child or how the classroom gets along the next month? Horrible experience.
