This is one of those restaurants that have been around for years under the same management (definitely over a decade). The manager is often there (he must work over 60 hours a week) and personally greets customers.
The reason for their long success? Great food at a great price. The service is also fast and if you watch, you can see the wait staff checking out your table status often. You know it's a good place when you see cops go there to eat - cops know where the good-food-value restaurants are.
I've been eating there since I was a kid and have never had an issue. Like most people these days, I looked them up today to carryout and save a few bucks compared to dining in. I'm writing this review because, with the economy in the state that it's in, I don't want to see this place fall when it would have otherwise prospered and I don't think the lowly rated review is fair. It's one of the best food-for-the-money places in Charlotte, and their egg drop soup is unbeatable (and I'm an egg drop connoisseur).

I am new to the area and wanted to see what to have for lunch. I like chinese so I wanted to give the local fare a try. Big mistake. As soon as I come in to pick up my lunch, there is an issue over the type of rice with my meal. I let the hostess/cashier know that I do not eat pork, nor do I eat anything that is mingled with pork. Even if I pay only $5, I should not have to pick over my meal. I was ready to simply take the spring rolls and leave but, she insisted that I talk to the manager. He seemed nice enough, so I did. I normally don't trust anything that I send back because it never comes back right. This case was no exception. The lady who took my order along with the manager and the kitchen staff was more interested in taking my money than giving me what I asked for. Good customer service takes back orders with no hassles or complaints. There was no good customer service here. The niceness was a facade. A quality business would have sacrificed the cost of one plate to have a customer come again. However, they would rather have the money in your pocket for a customer to be dissatified with the food and possibly sick (I was sick for that matter and nauseous for some time afterwards until I was able to settle my stomach). Bottom line: I WILL NEVER RETURN AND URGE ANYONE TO NEVER GO.

No matter who you are, you are treated like royalty from the moment you enter and are greeted by the owner, the hostess, and several other employyes. Your beverage order is taken the moment you are seated and in a blink of the eye the waiter is back with it. You glass or cup never gets to half empty--ever. Language may sometimes be a barrier but is one of this place's charms. Very attentive wait staff who sometimes run to get your order to the kitchen and back to you. I have dined throughtout the US and Europe, and this is one of my favorite places to go. For the money, Sunday lunch is the best deal in Charlotte. A nice closing touch -- everyone thanks you as you leave.
