Used to love this restaurant (10 years ago - we went routinely). It is NOT the same anymore. Food has gone downhill. Waiter unable to properly split check when dining with others. I have also experienced the ""creepy service"" as many others describe where the waiters walk around RIGHT beside/behind you hovering in a creepy manor unlike any other restaurant I've ever encountered. I can see and taste a difference in the food. Once the owners and cooks of Maharani split ways and part of them went and opened Copper - Maharani has never been the same. Do not waste your money. We should not have wasted ours a few more bucks spent at Copper would have been well worth it.
Great indian food!! Their lunch buffet is awesome.

Well, our visit was highly anticipated. We were on a mission for some really good Indian food. We arrived, the ambiance was nice. True to previous posts, our water glasses were constantly being attended to, but that was ok with us. We had an appetizer, of somosas which were very good. The food took a very long time to arrive, our waiter apologized, however, it was fantastic and apparently freshly cooked! Flavorful in nuanced ways, and absolutely worth the wait. We had Lamb Korma, Chicken Tikka, and Goat Biryani. Yum! I mean, really really good. So really if we would have gotten our food right away, we would have given it 5 stars.....\r We would highly recommend this establishment.

I have been here twice with my boyfriend and we have enjoyed the food- the samosas, naan, chicken and vegetarian dishes are all good. However, the service here can only be described as...weird. There are too many servers and random people just sort of hovering around. One of the waiters literally refilled my boyfriend's water after every sip he took. We found this sort of awkwardness entertaining, but not everyone will be amused with the service. Also there can be a bit of a language barrier at times- one of the waiters at another table was being yelled at by a customer who seemed to think that increasing her volume would help him understand- ah, stupid American. Overall good food and I will be back to try the lunch buffet.

Maharani is an excellent Indian restaurant complete with great service. There were several waiters/waitresses keeping drinks filled and naan refilled. The naan was freshly cooked each time we asked for it so be aware that when you ask for more, it will take about 4-5 minutes to get the next piece. It comes out piping hot and yummy. We ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh and the Lamb Mango. Both were very good, although there was slightly less meat in the dishes than we normally expect. We ate for dinner so we unable to try their buffet but plan to go back for lunch soon.

Maharani is the best Indian Restaurant in Charlotte, especially the uptown area. Dont let the location fool you! The decor is great and so is the service compared to many other indian restaurants I have been to in charlotte. Their butter chicken is amazing and so is the kadai paneer. The garlin naan is also superb, but make sure to pop a piece of gum in your mouth after ;-). Prompt service, food served to your taste (mild, medium, spicy). My co-workers introduced me to this place and we make sure to grab the lunch buffet atleast twice a month!!!

No thing special about this place. average food, poor service, untrained staff. I went there for luch on sunday. and i dun think I will go there again!
If you like lentil soup, try this place. They use so many aromatics and sharp flavors in this soup, you can't go wrong! Its all broth but try it, you'll like it!

My husband and I eat there 2 - 3 times a month. It's quiet and relaxed. The food is great, especially the Naan. The staff is very friendly. Ambience is lacking a little but could be a lot worse. Always a pleasant experience.

I lived in NY for three years where I got to know Indian food. Many restaurants, a whole street in fact of almost only Indian restaurants. Then I moved to North Carolina and had been pleased with the Indian Restaurant near University.... not as good as the one in Raleigh. That's until I found the Maharani restaurant. It's a feast of taste in a really warm atmosphere. I don't care for the pictures on the walls but that is as far as any disliking goes. This is gorgeus food!!!! You don't need to envy NY restaurants in NY, this is a superb indian cuisine. Go and enjoy.
