I made a reservation online via my Hertz account (as shown below). On the day of pick up, I arrive at the airport in Monroe to be told that there is no car for me (strike number 1). There is no hertz counter there, so I call the phone number listed on the reservation which is a dead number (strike number 2). The airport employee then calls another number that she has and speaks to a woman (I don't know her name) at the Independence branch of Hertz. She gets on the phone with me and says that they tried calling me but my phone number wasn't listed on my account (a lie - strike number 3), then insinuated that I made the reservation through some alternate booking site. I told her that I booked through my hertz account on their website (otherwise how would I have made the reservation using hertz points for the rental -duh?!?), and my phone number was in the system - that I took a screen shot of and emailed/hard copied mailed to Hertz. Then she accused me of supplying erroneous information since the Monroe airport is only for transit passengers flying in (which is not listed on Hertz.com, the rental reservation or anywhere else), and that I had to enter a flight number on the reservation for it to have accepted the reservation. You can CLEARLY see that no such data was put on my reservation... She then says that if I wanted to, I could drive 40 minutes in the opposite direction of where I needed to go to pick up a rental car at their branch, and oh - they don't have the type of car I reserved, days in advance. So clearly this employee was lying and had the audacity to accuse me of lying to cover her own incompetence. When I stated that I wished to speak to a manager, a gentleman came on the phone and basically said oh- you should call our regional manager.
You clearly do not value my business as this situation was handled inappropriately from top to bottom. When I attempted to call the regional manager (Grant) at 770-508-7503, the number provided by the supervisor at the Independence Hertz Branch, I left a voicemail and to this day have not received a follow up or return phone call. Your 1-800 system, which I was bounced from 2 different agents saying they would get me a manager only to be returned to the automated base system after 35 minutes on hold is again, unacceptable.
So as they say in baseball, 3 strikes and you're out. This incident has half a dozen lies, foul ups, and missed opportunities that strike against your credibility.
I will never rent from Hertz as long as I live and I promise to write negative reviews on every platform possible.
