Too much for too little! Energy Sports & Fitness

My major complaint is their small lockers and locker room, very poor planning from the start, for the membership price of their gym. Each cubical is small with over 30 lockers and one small bench in the middle. Mayhem starts when men just arrive to the lockers and others are in a hurry to leave at the same time. It is so small, bring your tape measure and see for yourself. The individual lockers are super small and wrinkle your attire. My gym bag would not fit in their small locker so I had no choice than to leave it out in the men’s locker room. Under $100 cash was stolen out of my gym bag while I worked out in the gym. A friend at Energy gym pointed out a man to me that was in a recent NC Slammer publication. Be a good cop, check out Energy’s gym members with past and recent publications of NC Slammer.

I was a member for two years. During that time, the gym offered some great classes, but most were quickly taken away, which of course effected the fitness or weight loss goals of the members. The restrooms were often unclean, the barre class was discontinued because they could not or did not want to pay to get the dance bars fixed. The website says "Contact us" but does not allow you to. One of the water fountains was broken for the two years I was there. The equipment that worked was okay, but I had the best experience working with a personal trainer. I was able to accomplish my goals and maintain good health after learning to eat and exercise the right way.

From what I understand, this company has been sold so many times that the accounts of many of its members could and have become "lost."

Here's my issue: After moving halfway across town, I had to cancel my membership. After being charged three months later. I contacted the general manager (GM) and provided him with a copy of my cancellation form. He said that he had to forward this and a refund request to corporate, whom he could not name. I've since learned from my bank that the billing company is called Paramount Acceptance whom I had to call in order to cancel the auto bill pay. (FYI, if you choose to join even after this warning, see if there's a payment option other than auto bill pay). However, Paramount said to look to Energy for a refund. I have yet to hear back from the GM or anyone else from that gym. My husband was also being billed after he canceled his membership and had to pay for the bank to put a stop payment on his account.

Continuing to bill someone for services not received and without permission is FRAUDULENT activity. No one should not have to jump through hoops for them to stop being billed or to get a refund. They also should not have to pay fees for a stop payment (which Energy/Quest Fitness will later owe).

Energy Fitness/Quest/ZX/Peak (or whatever you now call yourselves), get it together. Get organized and learn to value your customers and employees. This is one reason why there was a mass exit.

*Group classes - Good but inconsistent.

*Equipment - Okay for the most part (some should be replaced).

*Customer Service - Poor.

*Personal Trainers/Training - Excellent.

*Other items in gym in need of repair - several items in women's restroom, ballet bars in fitness room #2, water fountain, sometimes the movie screen.

*Fraudulent Activity - Unacceptable.

Do not ever go to this gym!!

The trainers there sexually harass you, and when it is brought up to management, nothing is done about it. Then when you try to cancel your membership, you can never get ahold of anyone to do so. Then the gym was bought out by another company and they say there is nothing they can do about my bill. I tried a number of times to get ahold of someone about canceling this membership. The NEW Senior Vice President Steve Davis was very rude to me on the phone about helping me out when I called it to settle my bill after it was sent to a collection agency because, well I wasn't pay it, because I couldn't get ahold of anyone to cancel it!! And of course no one believes I tried to call in to cancel, I would always get some kid at the front desk who would say that no one was in at the time to help me. I should pull out my call records.

I spoke with the Manager Mike at the time about the employee's who were sexually harassing me and nothing was done about it, that's why I left.

The facility was a nice and had nice equipment, but when you are harassed by the trainers and staff members that is not ok, ESPECIALLY when management did nothing about it.

So I ended up just leaving the gym, tried calling a number of times to cancel and now I am stuck with a huge bill. And this new new company that took over the gym can't do anything about it. Within the short time that I worked out there, management changed about 3 times, so beware, if they get someone new, they may not be able to help you.

All I say is beware of the staff that works at this gym, it is an uncomfortable workout environment full of sketch sleezeballs.

Wow! And Dirt Cheap

OMG! Just joined up and can't believe what a beautiful facility--I was paying $89 a month at my last gym in New York and this is like a spa, for $39. My favorite is the Cardio Theater!! and Zumba! I usually think gym salespeople are worse than used carsalesmen, but Samantha was amazingly helpful and not pushy.

Huge scam

They advertise that is a month to month club and they don't believe in memberships. I tried to cancel and they are giving me the hardest time. They claim that I signed a contract that authorized them to charge my credit card regardless if I cancel the membership.
