My wife and I stopped in for lunch, and although we waited 30 minutes to be seated, it was well worth it!!! We started off with the fried green tomatoes appetizer at the recommendation of our server Elizabeth, and she was right, light, crisp batter on thinly sliced tomatoes. Delicious!!! We opted for the shrimp po' boys, again recommended by Elizabeth, and again a great item. The hoagie roll was soft on the inside with a thin crust. The shrimp were jumbo sized and were fried and the batter was again very light and crisp. The garlic mayo, greens and diced tomatoes were the perfect accent. For sides I opted for the home made chips with ranch dressing. The dressing was ver good, but the chips were not as crisp as I would have. My wife had the pasta salad side and it was extremely good and I wish I had selected that versus the chips. We took our desserts to go and my chocolate pie was superb, although I felt the portion did not justify the price. My wife's berry cobbler was wonderful and the portion was definately worth the money!!! My only real complaint was the big screen tuned to ESPN, it really was a distraction amd did not fit the atmosphere. Five stars for the food and service!!!

I've been eating here for years, so some of the negative reviews really surprise. I have always found the staff at Thai Orchid to be more than gracious and attentive. They are always happy to greet you with a smile. As far as the food goes, I believe most of the dishes to be at least average or above. I definitely favor some dishes over others, but I can say that about most restaurants. I have a rotation of 4 Thai restaurants I go to depending on what I’m in the mood to eat, as some do certain dishes better than others. The dishes I order at Thai Orchid are definitely above average. I have eaten at most of the Thai restaurants in Charlotte, and I eat a lot of Thai food when I travel, so I think I have a pretty good understanding of the cuisine. I would not hesitate to recommend Thai Orchid. You can absolutely get a tasty Thai meal in a friendly neighborhood-like atmosphere.
Raul was our server who was superb! Perfect service. He was very attentive but not over indulging. It was my anniversary and he engaged with us and made us feel special. The food was delicious! We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir. I had the 20oz Bison Ribeye topped with bordelaise sauce and served with bacon cheddar mashed potatoes and asparagus. I ordered my steak at a medium temperature. It was flavorful and portion sizes generous. My husband had Steak Au Poivre which was a pepper encrusted NY strip with truffle pomme frites and cognac creamed spinach. He also had the Bentley's Martini. It was so much food we couldn't eat dessert. However Raul brought out a creme brûlée for our anniversary on the house with a candle. Our bill was a little our $180 before tip but not bad for the beautiful view of the city below. Everything was well worth it! We will be back again requesting Raul!
