When I used to live in Charleston, I used to come here all the time for happy hour. The prices are great and the food is well worth the money. The downfall of their happy hour is that it is only valid at the bar, not the bar tables, just the stools at the bar. Every time I go, I always order their calamari. It's the best calamari I've ever had! They cut their squid into thick trips and it is topped with a bacon, corn and pepper mayo relish. It's delicious. I also order the mussels in a white wine garlic broth. It's normally really tasty, but one time I had it, they added too much white wine. The white wine flavor was overpowering. The shrimp corn dogs are different and yummy. The green curry oysters were divine. The oysters are fresh and delicious. They used to have a great wine and garlic sauce to put on the oysters but the last few times I've been there, it hasn't' come with the oyster in the order. I've been here twice for restaurant week and ordered the three course dinner each time. Every dish I ordered was just ok. The dishes were plain and needed much more flavor. I would not recommend a restaurant week visit. The restaurant itself is small. If you want to come on a weekend, make a reservation. The service is ok, hit or miss. Sometimes I had great service and other times, some of the staff forgot about me. The restaurant is located on a busy street, there is parking in a parking garage near by.
2.5 stars. The food here is hit or miss. Some entrees are really delicious like the southern whole fried fish and the fresh catch with the garden pesto sauce. That pesto sauce is delicious. Their biscuits and iron skillet mussels are good. Their fish and chips and shrimp and grits were mediocre. This restaurant gets busy on the weekends so I would suggest having a reservation. It's loud and the dining is casual. Service was good every time I've been here. Parking is weird, there is a small private lot (15-20 cars max) that's a one way. So you drive in to look for a spot, then find nothing and you have to reverse your car to get out.... that's if there are no cars behind you.
I recently visited the Charleston area and was enjoying the market there in the city where I worked up a big appetite, spoke to a few locals about fresh seafood and was refered to try out The Noisy Oyster right on the corner at the end of the Market. I walked into a friendly environment was greeted at the door and sat down by the spacious open bay windows overlooking the streets. I tried the Chef's Lunch which was a Mahi Burrito with a side of creamy grits and was very satisfied with the meal. I met the Chef Riley and he informed me that the resturant does daily Lunch specials and Dinner specials. Overall I had a great lunch and would recommend this resturant to others to try.
